C204 Secrets Thread
Extremely Incorrect!!!
At least on the C-Class Coupe. HOLD feature does NOT put the car in park. In fact, when you are in drive with the HOLD feature activated, a warning comes up when you open the door saying, "Shift Car into P!".
When HOLD feature is enabled, it will remain enabled when you shift from drive to neutral and reverse, but be aware, that even when you get out of the car and the car stays still because HOLD feature is still engaged, it is NOT parked. Meaning that if the accelerator or brake are depressed, it will disengage HOLD feature and your car can and will roll away. Just wanted to make it clear.

I don't understand why people are having issues with this hold feature. Come to a stop, don't release the pedal!!!! Just stop, then push the pedal down as far as you can, doesn't have to be quick/hard/forceful, just push down, and you should see hold pop up in the display near the bottom.
If it doesn't, you may not have the feature, but every US Spec 2012 should have it standard on all the C Coupes.

Has anyone with a Canadian model tried this? I cant seem to get it working lol
I just purchased a C63 Coupe and am trying to find out how to copy music onto the hard drive, not rip it. I had a 2009 C350 and there was an option in the engineering menu (7.7.15) that could be changed to enable it. Has anyone found the option in our newer command yet?
Well copying it is basically ripping it. Isn't it just a straight import function? Are you copying a CD or a CD with mp3 files on it? I think that in North America yuo can only copy actual CD tracks not Mp3 files.
Hi, I have a Canadian 2012 C250 and the hold feature does certainly work. Once at a complete stop, simply push the brake further, rapidly. It can be a gentle and subtle but quick additional push. Just don't release the brake first. Works really well and I use it all the time.
After you changed that option you could copy MP3 files from memory cards or CD/DVD's instead of ripping MP3's off of an audio CD. I'm in the US and I was able to fill the hard drive with audio by transfering the files right from a memory card. The problem is now that I have a newer version of the command I'm not able to find a similar option under that settings menu. Anyone else able to find it?

2012 Mercedes C250 Coupe (C204)
I live in US and my new 2012 C250 Coupe has been delivered a week ago The day I pick it up I brought a CD full of MP3 files with me and the dealer showed me how to store those MP3 files in the car hard disk through a "record' function on the COMAND while playing them.
Cool, I looked again this morning and didn't see anything, but maybe you'll have better luck. Thanks!
Oh yeah? Didn't think that was possible. Maybe it is only a restriction on SD card import. Did you have to add each one manually?

Does anyone know if it is possible on GPS to have it N up always?
Also, When searching thru ipod songs via media interface - I tried using the number pad to search thru to get to a song or artist but none of the buttons do anything.
Help?

Yes you can. Go into map options. You will see orientation and a list of different views.
The number pad doesn't work for iPod AFaIK.

Just to clarify, the above is wrong (unless his car was maybe an early model off the line that had older software?). You cannot copy MP3s to the COMAND hard drive in the 2012 model. The feature was removed.
What you still CAN do (and where I think the person above may have been confused) is copy CD audio tracks onto the COMAND hard drive from a CD. This means that while you cannot copy MP3s you can still copy CDs. You would have to burn all of your MP3s out as music CDs and then rip them to the COMAND unit. A very annoying task that will result in tons of burnt CDs. Not worth it. You can thank the RIAA for nudging MBUSA to remove this feature. The feature still works fine on NON US cars for 2012.

Now in reality, it still doesn't matter because you can easily get a huge SD card or USB drive and store your music on it. It's just that Mercedes looks like a bunch of laughably stupid fools when they advertise 10 GB of music storage space that is almost completely useless now that they have disabled its primary means of file transfer.

This feature would be amazing! Anyone have any luck unlocking this or having a dealership do it?
