Cabin pressure issue

Hi,

I have a C300 2013, I am experiencing a issue with the cabin pressure. Every time I turn the heater on the cabin pressure becomes all weird, your ears pop, as soon as you open the window its fine and then when you close it the same thing happens. I have taken it to the dealer severals times, and they keep on saying they fixed but the problem is always there. Everytime I drive the car I have no choice but to leave the heater turned off. Has anyone experienced something of this sort.

ps: this problem has began after the car was repaired from a accident.

Thanks In advance!

so weird

i'm very curious what is actually going on here... because there is no way the fans of the car's climate control system can actually raise the ambient pressure of the cabin any noticeable amount. for 2 reasons: 1- the cabin is not airtight and 2- the fans are not powerful enough

if I had to guess, you have very sensitive eardrums. i remember my mother used to have this problem, in particular if the front left and rear right window of the car were open. she would hear a "womp womp womp" sound and feel discomfort. she went to the doctor and it turned out she had a problem with her eardrum.

question: if you sit someone down in your car and put the heater on, does your passenger notice?

i just do not see how the ambient pressure can be ever changed when the cabin is NOT air tight

I'm having the same problem

Hi - I just bought a 2012 C300. It was in a two "minor" accidents involving rear and then front impact. My issue is the exact same as described by ADZ111. Do we know of any possible fix or am I stuck with a car that will make my ears pop whenever it's cold? Its extremely off putting and I'm calling the dealer today to see what they say. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Spoke to Mercedes service department

They told me it could be a possible issue with the "body exhausters" (2 vents in the rear of the vehicle under the bumper). These could be blocked by painter's tape or dirt of some kind and not allowing the air to move of the car when it's being pulled in by the climate control. They had also never heard of the issue and they have been working on Mercedes since 2003.

Is this a part that can be replaced?

That was going to be my answer as those rear vents are the only thing that would cause such an issue

Issue mostly resolved!

Just wanted to let you know my recent findings. I spent 4 hours at the dealer's body shop trying to find the "body exhausters" I was told about by Mercedes-Benz. There are two vents located on both sides of the rear bumper under the taillight. They are only visible from the outside if you remove the bumper completely. In my particular case, these body exhausters were replaced and body work on the bumper, and they were put in upside-down! This cause almost no air to flow out of the car and hence the extreme increase in pressure and ear popping. I literally flipped them over and put them back in and my issue is almost completely gone. The only issue I still have is one the highway at high speeds or if the A/C is on full blast. Hope this helps!

You’re Not Alone my 2014 W212 E550 same issue

It’s super frustrating and annoying. My friend pointed out that they’re supposed to be a vent in the trunk.
