Whats the Best DIY diagnostics tool for W205 C300
I'm new to this forum, can someone please recommend the best diagnostics tool for my 2015 C300 W205. I have tried both the icarsoft MB V2.0 and Foxwell nt510,
The icarsoft MB V2.0 is able to read the modules and display live data for most of the, as well as read faults and erase faults.
The Foxwell NT510 is able to read module faults and erase faults, but unable to display live data for the modules and doesn't supply and means of programming.,
I originally bought the foxwell NT510 after reading that it was much more capable then the icarsoft MB V2.0, but to be honest I have found the reverse and have found the foxwell NT510 with my w205 very disappointing.
I have read somethings about Vediamo, Xentry passthroughs adapters from Tactrix.
I am not sure what I need, I'm a DIY'er not a shop and I only will be using this for my own vehicle and/or friends if they may ask. but I would like something that would allow me to reset the battery counter etc.
I had my windshield replaced several months ago and when they replaced it they damaged the rain / light sensor, so I bought a new sensor and installed it. but then it wasn't working and giving me errors, it turns out that there was nothing wrong with the new sensor and that it only had to be taught-in at the dealership using Xentry system. this made me feel very uncomfortable that for such a little swith being replaced that I needed to bring it in and makes me worry for the future..
so my question is could someone please give me some recommendations if there is a reasonable priced DIY tool that would help me in the future with tasks as such and allowing me to do some simple steps reset battery counter etc.. should I need to..
I don't mind spending $100.00's but dont want to spend $1,000's on such a tool.
thanks in advance...
Thanks.
Is there any software or scan unit which is available now on the market for.purchase which will allow.me to reset simple things on my w205 like Battery counter reset?
I don't Have the requirement for it often nor do I run a repair ship. But would like to have a unit that I could have on hand should I require it.
If I purchase an xentry thirdparty solution and then don't use it again for several years will it still work or will I most likely have a program when I need it again.
Thanks.
Is there another software that is capable of resetting battery counters etc on my w205 or is using xentry the only option?
Thanks in advance

may I ask another questions please?
from reading your link it seems like you need XEntry then to update the various components / firmware etc. but for someone like myself who is not a shop or who doesn't have access to the dealer network and if I had Xentry i.e. from you, would I be able to find the files to update the components or are these only available to the dealerships?
thanks in advance.

Thanks
2 My work is 100% offline and for that reason, the custom database I build and attach will be stuck at the date of my release. same for all the software.
any thoughts?
thanks in advance.

but just remember that you will be limited with that kind of basic ultra cheap stuff
don't expect much.
do your search in google and go to the right forums to discuss that option. not here

I grabbed 2018.03 XEntry passthrough with my openport 2.0 device and installed on a Windows 11 Virtual Box and I was able to reset the battery counter on my W205 successfully
I did notice that for doing any sort of adaptations i.e. install a new rain/light sensor then it doesn't seem to work and wants to connect with either the helpdesk or MB itself, see below screenshot.
Could you tell me how to get around this? am I having this issue because its a limitation of the passthrough version and if so would running the C4 etc version get around this or what would you suggest?
thanks so much in advance..

There is too much to say about all the problems you will face
PT was build for serious 800$-2000$ PT devices
don't dream
cheap=cheap results no secret
not sure what you mean by clone device, or bad install, as I did it myself.
does PT support flashing devices? it that a limitation of using a pass-through device?
it seems to me that it might be a configuration error. reading though the error message above, do you need to use a authorized user/password from MB to access their firmware etc?
in the case where YOU install the proper more expensive version of Xentry does it still need to make access with MB to obtain firmware or does it instead access the files from elsewhere. i.e. other server or locally?
thanks once again.
p.s I'm not a shop, I'm just a DIY'er
