Where is the Gear Shift Lever Release Button?

My car is dead and i need to push the car across the street ..

Where is the gear shift lever release button so i can switch from Park into neutral ..

I have a 99 c230 sport

On my W208 it was next to the gear shift...

i don't see any release button, and i've checked my owners manual, no mention of such a release...

Just a thought, if it's dead because of a battery, you could hook up jumper cables to it and then use the electricity from the other car to depress the brake pedal and shift the car in to Neutral.

even without power...just stick the key into the ignition, turn into position 2 and then you can press the brake and put it into neutral.

otherwise, you can't get it into neutral any other way without the key in the ignition.

EDIT...oh crap, u have a '99, which was the first year for smartkey's for the w202's...still should work tho. If not, call up your local MB dealer and ask a service advisor or roadside.

i'm sooo mad!! so my car's been parked on a side street for a little over a week long cuz of this key issue.. someone decided that my car needed to be keyed from front to back... I'm furious and my minds planning revenge! i'm not one to be racist but 90% of the block is jewish, and i'm jus fuming! anyone have stories like this?

btw, so i ordered the key from the dealer for 180 bills.. .I'll keep you guys updated on the status... fyi, car battery is still good, remote batter is still good... i hope that it's the infrared transmitter built into the key that malfuntioned....
