K&N Filters for W202 part no.(33-2703)

has any one installed this filter? Does it work as it claims? Horsepower and torque increasaed? need your comments and suggestions. My filter is kinda dirty, and I don't want to spend more for K&N and get the same result with the cheaper factory one.

thanks

I put it in my 95 C280, and it seems like throttle response is quicker.... but I can't verify.
I say go for it.

how much horsepower gain is not the first priority, although it is very important. The throttle respond during low RPM is my primary concern.

when you put it on this weekend, can you kindly monitor the throttle respond (2000-3000RPM) 2nd gear while making 90 degree turn. If the throttle responds has improved, I will decide to get one.

How about anyone making complete in-take kit for W202? (will this require to have old aiir filter box removed?)

I noticed throttle response seemed better above 3500-4000 RPM, but not really at anything below that.

what is the average price you guys getting for the K&N filter? someone quote me on the net for $40 + S&H ($15), is it fair enough?

I think I paid $53 for mine from some Auto parts store. Sounds like a good deal... but that S&H seems a little much?

Anyway, good luck!

Has anyone noticed increased fuel consumption with the K&N's? Does the filter lower fuel economy? Thanks.

fuel consumption is more or less the same. but someone said it improves. what i think is the trick between the clean, more free flow K&N vs original dirty one!!!
my C280 has installed the K&N replacement filter also. nice pedal response but i don't think it increase the hp. (perhaps!!?)
i wanna know more about the K&N 57i filter but some people said it's not so good for stop and go traffic but GOOD on highway. it's because of the fast flowing of cool air instead of the hot air in the engine bay.
hot air, density decrease, lesser oxygen compare with cooler air with higher density.
any idea??

You won't notice hardly any difference. Even though the box says something like 7 horsepower, expect less than 2. The intake system on our cars is actually pretty well designed so there's not much room to gain. I paid about 50 bucks for mine.
