Sport Shock & Lowering Spring

Hi all,

I plan to install Sport Shock & Lowering Spring before put 19" rim on my car. After doing some browsing, I identify that there are some products available in the market which fit W202:

Sport shock : Bilstein & Koni
Loweing Spring : Eibach & H&R

What is your recommendation guys? What other products also available?

Cheers ...

check out club202.com there are about three threads on this exact subject right now. to summarize them though, each person will push what they have, and either is a good choice.

Bilstein Sport, Koni are both good. I plan to go with Bilstein (U$100 cheaper for comparable quality and I don't need adjustment).

Springs:
H&R sport - softer ride of 3 (in comparison with 3 here).
Eibach pro - hard ride of 3, most expensive of 3
Vogtland sport - midium ride, cheapest of 3,

I went with eibach pro (was able to get used one in good deal).
Planning to get bilstein near future.

If you're on budget, go with bilstein + vogtland.
if you want really tight settings, go with koni + eibach pro.

any combination will serve you good. I can't wait to lose my stock springs.

Being on a tight budget too, I almost gotten Vogtland springs with Bilstein sports. But I was lucky enough to find an even cheaper set of H&R sport springs so I went with this combo.

The ride is firm and I like it!

I've never heard of vogtland before 2 weeks ago, but after some search on various forums, I've been reading only good things about it. So I was ready to get a set but went with eibach instead because I got an offer from fellow member and it was less hassel to me to get it from him than getting vogtland. (I had to ship it to my bro's in michigan and he has to bring it to me crossing border and might have to pay custom/taxes etc.).

Thanks for your advice. I plan not to spend much, however I will consider to increase the budget if it is worth. Could you give me more bugdet indication for each combo. It will help me to decide which one to go.

from my understanding the H&R and eibach are the other way around...maybe someone with experience with both can chime in

I love the Vogtlands. One noticable - and important for me - difference is the additional travel they offer. The spring consists of fewer coils with the same lowering which results in more available suspension travel. On the Eibachs on my 190 there is only about 2" of travel whereas the Vogtlands on the C43 have 4+" of travel and never bottom out.

I have the Vogtland springs and Koni adjustables. For me it's an awesome combination since I can fine tune it.

I recently changed from Koni yellow's to bilstein sports, I prefer the koni yellows, they feel softer when driving....seems to me that the bilstein's are good for high speed while the koni's feel better for cruizin...

my 2 cents, go with the koni yellow's, you'll be happy

i've had H&R springs and bilstein sport shocks on my car for over a year now. looks more aggressive with its mildly lower stance. no complaints except for that the ride in the back is a bit harsh.

what springs do you have? what setting are the shocks set to? Can you provide some more feedback on your setup and experiences. Thanks.

I have Eibach Pro Kit Springs, and as for shock setting, to my knowledge the Bilstein sport shocks arn't adjustable, and if they are pls let me know because I wish I can soften them, I also changed the shock rubber's from 5 to 1 to give the car a lower stance...

With the Koni Yellow's the car seemed to ride really smooth, but then again I got new Tires and these tires have a better treadwear than the other's so harder compond, maybe that's the cause...

I find a performance shop (in Jakarta) offers H&R 29749-1 (Sport Spring) for $ 240. What you guys recommend? Should I go for it?

Unfortunately they do not stock any sport shock for W202... I am still looking for any source for this item in Jakarta or Singapore .

I have H&R + bilstein. Ride is very good..absorbs bumps well, yet control is good.
Only problem...very low ride. Currently using #3 pad...still have rubbing problem. There basically no gap between the front tire and the fender.

Anyone have the same problem?? Any suggestions to fix this? There is a #4 pad at 5mm higher...but probably not enough to fix the problem...thanks
