Try emailing Jerry at formymercedes.com (aka myroadster.net). He might be able to get it from Germany for you. His products are all really good quality (I had the chrome v-bars for my SLK when I had it), and he's a really great guy to deal with.

Gaston at www.autoclass.net might also be able to get it for you, but their website doesn't seem to list everything, so I'm not sure.

don't buy it on ebay, if you guys want the chrome frame surrounding. Goto your local mercedes dealership, its varies from 12.95 to 13.95, depending on where you go. Just ask for the SLK chrome gear surround. Hope this helps you out, don't want to see you guys get ripped off buying these things on ebay for 25 bucks when u can just goto the dealership, and also acquire OEM quality products for less!! =P

i called the dealership, and they do have it for 98 SLK320, part number is 202 267 0088 (chrome gear frame), but the dealership does not promise a perfect fit for the w202 94-00.

I have one question, if the parts number starts with 202, does it mean it fit W202 also? by the way, this piece cost me $11 and i think if iit does not fit, it is only $11 right?

anyone has any source for the wood piece on the gear as pictured?

CORRECTION!

the correct part number for 98 SLK320 chrome gear frame is

202 267 0788 and is $13.00, is polished chrome,

the part number that i previously posted was wrong and $11 is for the balck one only.

sorry!

I wouldn't mind that wood insert if I can match it up with my existing C220 wood.

i think i've seen someone is selling the wood gear piece on the net, the place is called precisionauto.com, but they merged with performanceparts.com and no longer offering this product.

i think if i have that piece installed, it will make the center consol looks more expensive.

i will let you know when i got the chrome gear frame installed, the dealership does not stock that item, i have to wait for several days for it!

update on the chrome gear frame:

fiinally got the part, removing the old one is preety easy, just pull it off from the gate. the SLK320 frame seems larger than the w202s. I can get it to fit the shift gate, but leaving about 1/4 in of gap left and right. I will post pic tomorrow, anyone has any solution to that?

I guess you could try replacing the gear shift plate as well. Maybe add some sort of rubber liner around it to fill the gap? Dunno.

rubber liner sounds a very good idea, the purpose for me to seal the gap is to prevent the dust or small object from getting into it. maybe the weather sealing stripe attached to the side of the sift gate plate will produce the same result.

I have checked several place for a piece of the shift wood plate. but no luck at all! anyone has source to obtain this piece of wood?

I agree. You'd have to clue it onto the piece and sort of integrate them as one. Should work. I don't see why it wouldn't.

by the way, for all of you are insterested in this chrome gear frame, the price is $10.50 plus tax from MB dearlership. looks totaly different at the consol (much much better) after I have it installed! This piece was for sale at performanceproduct.com for $75 and $25 on ebay (don't know is OEM or not). Just go to the dealership and ask for it.

I can't tell but, it looks like you still have the gap(?). Any more thoughts on correcting that?
