Tranny fluid flush.

After reading muliple horror stories about transmission failures, I have decided to change the fluid in my transmission.

Is it advisiable to change the fluid in my differential as well?

The car is a 99 c230K sedan, with 65K miles on the odometer.

Thanks.

I have a different frame than you, but I just did the tranny flush on my car. Easy as pie. Only word of advice is not to overfill the tranny. I had 600 cc over the max, and the shifting was weird. Pumped out the overfill, and whoa, a new tranny all together. So, pour slow, and measure alot.

As for the diff, that is a much sturdy unit. I wouldn't do it untill you needed to change your gas filter at about 100k.

It may be just a matter of time.I've replaced a rear seal in the C43 and now I have the same leak in the 00' 230K.

Old thread, but I did my flush yesterday. Easy as pie?
Ha.
FYI- the service sheet calls for Fuel filter replacement every 60K miles, not 100 k. Was gonna do the diff oil, but couldn't find the fill location...
need to check the DVD.
EDIT: Just read the DIY on diff, hmmm..didn't see that fill plug.
Did see a metal hose that went to the top with a cap on it.
W203 may be different.

14mm hex is the same size as the drain plug on a FIAT, Ed.
I'll have to dig mine up.
An auto parts store would have that, as a special tool.
I'm planning to use conventional oil since thats whats in there now.

Transmission flush

Here are some suggestions: don't forget to drain the torque convertor and when you refill the transmission, only put in 2-3 quarts initially, start the engine and move the shft lever from "D" to "R" several times to run fluid through the whole system and then carefully add remaining fluid. Adding too much initially can cause the fluid to leak out through the pan gasket.
