Lightbulb Lowering my car with H&R springs, what shock should I buy?

Well, I finally decided to dump some money into my car... I picked up some Monoblock II's on Saturday, and am about to order H&R springs, hubcentric spacers, and extended lugs. I'm going to roll the fenders as well.

What shocks offer the best ride quality on the H&R springs? Will the OEM/AMG struts fit, and will the ride quality be terrible? I know a lot of people have used billstein with the H&R's, but what about Gabriel?

My 2007 Legacy Spec B had billstein shocks and it had a great ride.

Thanks in advance!

At this point i'm looking at going with KYB shocks... Anyone use them, and how do you like?

Majority of people, including myself pick Bilstein sports. OEM will "fit" but have a lot of travel, won't be a good ride. Not really worth it to either DIY, or pay someone, just to put the springs in and then have to go back at it and do the shocks later. Your spring/shock setup all depends on how low you want to go and amount of comfort required. Don't forget spring pads to even out your car. Wasn't aware gabriel/kyb made shocks for lowered setups

Question for those of you using H&R springs... I just got mine in the mail and they came in an open box. The only markings on the springs is the spraypaint. They did come in an H&R box with a manual.

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not these are really H&R springs?

Well, it turns out I was sold stock springs in an H&R box... they should be stamped with H&R, and the part number. Plus, the rear springs should tighten up at one end, the front ones should taper in at the top.

The seller was very nice and seemed innocent enough... He already issued a refund and told me to keep the springs. Although I don't have any need for stock springs, haha.

I found good deals on tirerack and their shipping is less than people charge on ebay.

I would go with H&R's and Bilstein Sport's from Tire Rack. Had this setup on a W201. Good ride and performance. My H&R's had a logo and part number stamped on the spring.

I have always lowered my benzes to 60mm and have used koni yellow and have Bilstein in my 2.8, I have a good friend that works at the Bilstein factory and he gave my a great deal. I also have Carlson in my other benz which seams softer than the other two mentioned above.

I ended up going with the Eibach Pro Kit as suggested by some of my car friends... Struts are KYB.

Here's the result:
