How much is your oil change?

It seems like I've been spending around $100. I have a 2000 C280 sport, they usually use 5W40 Synthetic oil. (8 and a half qts I think.)

Does that sound right? Is there anywhere that I can get it done cheaper? Is 5w40 better than 0 or 10w40?

I normally pay $200 for the A service, which includes an oil change. They should use a 229.5 oil, which could be a 5w-40 (Liquimoly or Valvoline, the 0w-40 is Mobil). Just make sure it is 229.5 and not 229.51 or something else.

Hundred bucks for an oil change!!! Yikes! Now I know how all
these mechanics can afford their rolexes.

The place I go to charges a little over twenty bucks to change the
oil in my C220 (5 quarts) and I supply the filter ($5.80). Castrol oil.

are you sure that you don't have to use synthetic in your car?

Don't use synthetic in my car ('95), but even if I did, would only cost another ten/fifteen bucks at the place I go to.

My C280 uses up almost 9 quarts though, and it is synthetic. I get it done for $94 now at Valvoline with a coupon. Hey, I figure if I do it myself I'd only save a few bucks anyway, and they give you the records and know what they are doing more than I do.

mercedes publishes the oil weights you are supposed to use, are you sure that you are doing this based on the proper user manual/publication?

Costs me about twenty bucks (5 quarts Castrol GTX) plus five bucks for
OEM filter at the place I go to ('95 C220).

Mercedes Benz C280
i got mine changed by a friend at the dealership
they charged me 14.99 for the oem filter. and the oil change is like $20 with the A service. Also for oil they charged me 75.00 USD because they didn't know my dad who did me a favor to go and get the car to the service because i was busy. But I fixed it and it's 50.00 USD. Used Mobil 1 Full synthetic 0w-40.
so u do the calculationss!

Gonna have to open a chain of quick-lube joints for MBs. With all you dudes forking over a hundred bucks an oil change I'll be able to retire when I'm 35.

I think factory trained mechanics have slightly more knowledge than a jiffy lube guy...
no hold on i do agree that dealers a alittle over priced but if you compare them (apples to apples) a good euro indy is at 85-100hr labor. But i do agree there should be specials on oil changes and maintence repairs diag is diffrent.
