Installing some Bosch clear corners...

Can anyone tell me how to safely remove the original corners on my c230. Ive had these bosch clear corners sitting in a box for awhile now. Just got the clear turn signal bulbs in the mail today, going to try and do the install.

On the back of the indicators it held in place by 2 plastic prongs and a metal wedge that push's out these prongs to hold everthing in place. You need to push the prongs away from each other and pry out the metal wedge. When thats out close the prongy things together and push, It should just drop out.

k I found the metal wedge located behind the inner left and right area. pressed it down and that forced the other 2 prongs to come out. i just pulled the corner out of the socket after that.

my problem right now is i'm not sure how to remove the yellow/black plug connected to the turn signal, its attached to the original corner and i cant fully remove it :/

tried turning and pulling (not too hard)

Ive just checked on my car and when the corner is removed and the connector plug is pulled off, all that is left is the black bulb holder which needs to be turned a quater of a turn anticlockwise to release the bulb.( A bit tight maybe). You could if you want, hold the bulb with a clean cloth to stop any grease off your fingers getting on the bulb causing hot spots and blowing it. good luck

nm,

it appears one of them was just really tightly screwed on.

i tried the other and a little twist removed the turn signal plug outta the original corner.

right now im having trouble mounting the bosch corners back to my car. im lining up the 2 prongs where they should go, and im pressing down on the metal wedge thing in the rear, but its not fitting.

I got it to fit once, but barely. i was pushing the corner in real hard, then it didnt look like it was fitted correctly. pushed the metal wedge in the back to remove it like i did before, but even then it didnt pop out. had to yank it carefully to get it out.

any tips?

Are you sure these are Bosch lights. They should push right in and fit perfectly.

make sure that when reinserting that the 2 prongs on the SIDE of the indicator are located in the side of the headlamp retaining brackets. Then when you push in the metal wedge that it locates properly,Should go in with an audible and positive clik

Well if they are Bosch, do what pluggers said and make sure the tabs are going into the slot. It should be pretty easy. If you need this into more detail there are instructions in your users manual.

i got the left corner perfectly fitted, heard the "snap" too.

had to really ram it in there. or maybe im just a weakling :/

having trouble with the right, im hearing it "snap" but when i compare it to the left corner, it just doesnt look right, it doesnt remove easy when i push the wedge in the rear either.

im comparing the two corners from my original to the bosch, and it looks like my original prongs are bent outward a little bit more, maybe this is helping it lock better? the bosch ones since they are brand new arent bent outward and look more straight.

maybe thats the case? hmm

you may have a wire trapped at the back somehere.I cant imagine a problem with how straight the tabs are as the metal wedge should push them out.

got them to both fit with the "snap"

aparently for my car it fits differently each time (?)

i just kept pushing and popping it out to remove over and over again until they both looked as close as possible.

there is a very teeny tiny offset on the right corner compared to the left, but no one would notice but me

seems kinda odd that they dont fit the same, i did however looked inside the actual insertion area and i noticed a metal clip attached to one of the prong lockholder things. maybe this was causing the offset, i removed it nonetheless, since the other housing didnt have a clip. wierd huh?

They should fit exactly like your OEM ones. Try fitting back the OEM ones and when you hear the click you know it's in. Now do the same w/ the Bosch. I had some cheap imitations and they didn't fit right... drove on the freeway and saw it in the rearview mirror as a 4-runner drove over it. That's what I get for $30 imitation clear corners on eBay. To my stupidity... I bought it again and made sure I heard the click on the clips. And then found out the weren't sealed correctly so water got into it. Had to reseal them again. For the $60 I spent on it and time & labor, I should have gotten the Bosche.

Good Luck,

its like a 1 mm offset

very very teeny tiny offset that only i'd notice :/

when i say it "doesnt fit right" its not lose where it might fall out onto the highway when im driving. i just mean its imperfect to my eyes.

Man...

I was out late tonight and was low on gas so, I pulled into to this large exxon gas station near my house. Never really been there before, but thats because I almost always go to chevron gas stations exclusively, for the techron. Anyway, this gas station had a huge roof canopoy with some really bright luminescant lights and it made my car look spectacular.

Funny thing though was I didnt notice at first, I was purchasing a coke at the food stand and turned around to go back to my car and bam! glistening/glowing silver c230! I was thinking "holy ****". definetly a kodak moment. wish I had a camera tho. my car looked absolutely stunning!

Got a few stares from the people inside the food stand area, was funny seeing them peeping at me as I was driving off, lol. (im kinda used to stares, but these guys were staring pretty hard) I'm definetly returning there to take some pics to post after I get a digital camera.

Thanks for all the help on the clear corners, I was finally able to get both sides to fit perfectly. Avantgarde grill next project!

Glad you got it. I thought I was the only one with akward fitting clear corners. I got those piece of crap ones from ebay for $20. Man did I have to do a lot of filing to make those fit the way I wanted. I had to even clip a few stray pieces off. Now that they're in it looks great. With all the modifying I did to them they even fit better than the originals. Sure was a pain though. Guess that's what I get since they were made in China.

tell me about it!!
first set i bought off ebay for $45, then the clip wasnt cut out so it wouldnt clip, so i had to cut it myself then i cut one side too my so i had to glue pieces of plastic back onto it to make it fit PERFECTLY.. then 5 months later some fool cant read the road sign and decides to go straight in a right tunr only lane and clips my front bumper and breaks my right clear corner .<!@!@# (but i got $780 for a scrapped bumper and broken lense.. amzing how insurance works =T) anyway i bought another cheap set that wouldnt fit if my life depended on it.. and to make things worse i snapped both the clips on the new set.. =T so i had to CUT OFF the lense on the new set with a dremel and hot glue it to the old one.. damn that took me 7 hours
and the left side still doesnt fit too well =T i gotta do it again

I feel for you Doug. I bought those piece of crap TWICE! $20 + $10 shipping & tax so $30 x2 = $60! Don't buy it from procarparts.com unless you got time to play w/ it. You get what you pay for...

Darn mom was right again.
