Help installing hood and trunk badges

Hey all,

I just purchased a couple Carlsson badges for the hood and trunk. Any pointers on how to install the trunk emblem? The lining on the inside of the truck looks like its snapped on. How do you get those damn things off?

Also, the hood emblem (OEM) was a breeze to take off but the Carlsson badge is a pain. the backing (large washer) won't fit under the hood. Any help out there?

thanks,

the hood I figured out. its the trunk star that i'm having a problem getting to. That fuzzy lining is still on and i'm afraid to take it off to get to the 3 studs. The lining is fastened on with black plastic plugs. Do they screw out or pop out? I don't want to break them getting to the back of the star.

They pop out, don't worry about breaking them, they are cheap

Thanks, I'll try that.

Also, I actually did have a problem with the hood. The back washer was only a bit smaller than the emblem itself. It would not fit in the hole, not even sideways. I had to rig it myself with a small enough back to fit it. It worked though.

thanks all!

p.s. I got side emblems too. They look sweet!

Here's some pics

Well, I decided not to put the rear emblem on and i'm still up in the air about keeping the hood emblem. I do miss seeing that star while driving. I do like the side emblems and next purchase will be the lettering for the trunk. Here's some pics. Let me know if I should keep the hoodie or lose it.

And I know...... I NEED TO LOWER IT! =)

I actually got the badge this weekend too, but I had no idea how to even start pulling off the star off my 95 C220 without breaking it. Should I pull from under the hood? I also heard I can cut the metal rod that holds the star in place while holding it with needle-nose pliers.

Please let me know the easy way to take it off everybody talks about.

So are you going to lower your car with Carlsson springs? If so, you won't regret it.

Bottleneck,

The star assembly on the hood is easy to remove. Just take some needle-nose pliers and underneath grab and twist. I will just pull right out.

Now the rear star consists of 3 bolts with plastic looking retainers/nuts. I didn't even mess with that and am going to leave as is and replace "C 2 8 0" with "Carlsson".

Doug,

I would love to use Carlsson springs. Were can I get them and how much is it going to cost? I've noticed authentic Carlsson stuff is bucks. Not sure its true, but I heard the polished aluminum "Carlsson" center caps are $100 each to replace. Ouch!

I love the Carlsson exhaust tips too but they too are way overpriced ($500+). I'll probably go the same route you did Doug. I like your exhaust setup. Classy.

Let me know about the springs. thanks.....
