Can't Fuel 99 202 Due To Faulty Key Fob
Is there a fuel release catch anywhere in a 99 C200? My sisters key fob stopped working the other day and despite changing the battery it's still a no go. As she can't afford a new fob/key at the moment I was wondering if there was a release lever anywhere in the car (I can't find one after an hour looking) so she can at least take the kids to school?

As long as the car is unlocked then the fuel lid will also be unlocked. Use the central locking button on the dash to open the car (I presume you are getting into the car with the mechanical key)

Rfoo had good advice to look for the manual override. Also, if it is just that the pneumatic hose is bad, then that is fairly easy to fix. Don't buy a new fob until you are sure that is really the problem.

- Pull the carpeting away from the side of the trunk by the spring that is connected to the trunk lid.
- Reach behind towards the rear quarter panel in the direction of the fuel lid.
- You will feel the fuel tank solenoid. Simply pull the end of the solenoid towards the rear of the car.
This will ultimately unlock the fuel door and allow you to fill the car.

All posts helped greatly, many thanks. It not the fob, that's working fine, it's something to do with the central locking. We can't get into the trunk/boot because for some strange reason the lock doesn't work so we can't use the emergency fuel catch to fill it up. I thought later model 202's the rear seats could be pulled down to allow access to the boot but these don't fold down. It's an extremely frustrating problem.
