OBD2 port location

I have a check engine light and the only symptoms I can find are a rough idle and a slight hesitation going in and out of boost on my 230K. I think it's the air sensor, which seems to be a problem on these cars. I'm going to drop by autozone and have them read the code, but I can't find my OBD2 port. The manual says it is located near the e-brake, but it isn't.

If it does turn out to be the air sensor, how expensive are they and how easy is the replacement? I am fairly competent with wrenching and have pulled engines before but all of my experience with with carbureted cars.

It's under the dash. There is a cover you have to pull to reveal the port.

So I ran the code and it's P0170 "Fuel trim malfunction bank1" Any ideas on what that means?

m111

L4 usually indicates mass air sensor
in the v6 and v8 model you would have a p0170 and p0173 indicating both banks of cylinders affected since you only have one bank of cylinders you only have one code
www.autohausaz.com has them for about 180 delivered
you can try cleaning with crc brand maf cleaner (only) sometimes it works
worth a try
if not you get the new one and spend the 5 minutes to replace it

dealer charges up to 8bills for this simple diy task so don't go there
also don't buy off ebay no matter what the seller says of the cheap prices of their mafs they are fake chinese clones right down to the fake casting numbers.

You can also get your own scanner for 70bucks at harborfreight tools item 94169 coupons for 20% off in most boating and hunting magazines.

The CEl will clear itself when the new maf adapts the ecu. No need to erase the code or disconnect the battery since that will make all the I/M status read not ready and if you have a smog test due shortly you will fail.

autozone

o'reillys etc
labeled CRC brand MAF cleaner complete diy clean is on the can
Don't touch the actual element with anything but the spray no q-tips
Sometimes it helps most times If it helps it will only be for a while and then you will need a new one.

Seems i spoke too soon. I'm getting a really rouch idle and a lot of hesitation. I can feel a thumping through the pedals and my fuel econ is in the pits. This has happened twice and if I restart the car everything is normal and I get full power. I'm thinking the MAF really is shot.

So I was told that one of my motor mounts has gone bad and needs replacing. I understand this is a simple job? I have an engine hoist already, but after pulling the engine in and out of my fiat more than once I find it hard to believe that it's that simple. I checked on autohausaz.com and they have enigne mounts, but the left and right ones are different prices and from different MFRs. Whats up with that?

You need

the MAF
If your motor mounts are collapsed or leaking autohausaz and it for some reason is common to have 2 different suppliers for l and r

you don't pull the engine you lift it with a block of wood under the pan and a jack enough to remove 1 mount at a time remove bolts lift a few inches replace repeat.
Mounts will feel like a small miss at idle but won't be your real hesitation problem.
If it got worse after cleaning make sure you installed it fully seated and no kinks in the intake tube that might create leaks.

OK, I'll take care of the MAF and see where i am at. Right now there is so much vibration at idle I can't really make that out.
