Springs: Eibach, H & R, Brabus?

OK, this is not the typical (lowering) spring question... but I wanted to know what springs give the closest feel to stock ride? Meaning which ones don't lower the car that much? My main concern is not really improving handling, which I'm sure it will. I'm more interested in lowering my car very slighlty, since I am planning to put 19's on. And I want to get rid of some fender "gap." So does anyone know which springs are the "least" extreme.... (in regard to height and ride quality).... Thanks!!

try the...

sealy posturepedic... great springs...

no really though... i have eibachs prokit with bilstein sport shocks all around and the ride is nice and not bouncy and it handles a lot nicer. however, on original 15" wheels, the tires were really cushiony and the car was not as tight, imho.

luck,

sol

I am using that combo..ride is very close the the OEM AMG spring/shock set-up. Almost stock riding.

sol- I tried the Sealy but they don't fit, so I put them back in my matress...!!

anyway, I heard Eibachs have a good ride, but don't they lower the car significantly?

I heard AMG is good, but too much $$ for me...

About the bilstein shocks... are there different kinds... or do i just ask for bilstein...

With the stock rims and tires on my C36, i got over 2.5 inche drop. #2 pads up front and #3 out back. Rear tucks very very little..front is 0 gap between wheel and fender.

YOUR MILEAGE MAY VERY on the drop rate.

Bilstein...ask for sport shocks.

Narci, that sounds good... but isn't 2.5" drop pretty significant. I was hoping for 1.5" or so...

Thanks!!

original spring pads -- no change there (u can change em out to thinner if u want a more drastic drop.

also i have eibach prokit, which i mentioned earlier, and like narci said, bilstein sport shocks (make sure they are sport), which are shorter than reg. shocks to make way for the dropped car.

heres a pic of my drop on 18x8" rims... the tires are continental extreme contact -- very nice ride and sweet handling and very nice treadware. the rims, lorinser d93. no rubbing at all.

another pic, but...

the guy who has the carlsson's that cracked and then repaired em... his drop in my opinion is perfect. the front at least. it looks so low in the front and tucks the front wheel perfectly. mine is ok, but i wouldnt mind a little more in front. i can change pads and get that effect mind u, but i am worried it will rub. right now it is at a low, comfortable drop.

thanks man later...

oh and...

drops change from car to car, it's totally variable. this is what i was told for a long time now. the eibach kit box sez 1.25" drop, but it usually does it a bit lower. u have to try it, then if u don't like it, change pads.

when i had stock rims on when i did my drop, it was ugly and gap still existed in front...

then new wheels/tires put on and it tucked perfectly.

Yeah, I wanted a 1.5 drop as well.

Thread to Euro Spec AMG springs. about $350 USD (shipping included from Europe)

My front looks lower then Sol's. but then again he has 18 inche rims which could make it look higher.

Sol, your car is tight! Nice classic wheels, and perfect drop. Especially good with no rubbing! I'm still trying figure out if I like the smoke corners... Overall, I wouldn't have done anything different. Very nice.

As for my springs... I think I'll go with the thickest pad... for a "not so drastic" drop...

I live in Toronto Canada so that won't help hehe sorry.
I got my eibach's and four bilstens sports for about $850 CDN.
That's about $600 USD. I got lucky and got deep discounts cause the place i ordered from said they had to have soem shipped in. They got them shipped in but forgot to ship them out to me after 4 weeks.

From what I heard, it's hard to get the sway bars..they are majorly back ordered from TheTire Rack.

I have no clue how much the H&R's look. Specs says a litle lower. I heard they were stiffer too.

Oh yeah, rear camber is gonna be a pain in the butt since camber is not ajustable on the W202's.

I'm waiting on some custom camber rods.

Other alternative is to get a K-Mac camber kit.
