1995 C220 70 mph woes
I just recently purchased a cherry looking 1995 MB C220 but with a couple of mechanical issues that i took care of myself. After purchase I replaced the throttle actuator, maf, fuel filter, pump and hose. Replaced all vacuum hoses, changed oil and slapped on a set of new tires. Now I'm not getting any trouble codes now but before I had a maf TC and a knock sensor TC. Main reason I replaced the the TA and maf was that I was told that the old parts were causing a condition that prevented speeds over 70 mph. Well still has the problem, it will not climb above 70 mph. Has anyone had this problem?

I suggest taking it to the dealer, and have them scan for codes.
Have them run the VIN# for campaigns.

Campaigns??? Dealer is not an option, it's. 17 year old car and the dealer might as well pull a gun and Rob me outright. I am pretty proficient mechanically and must find a solution aside from a MB dealer but thanks for your reply.

Ohh yeah! that's how i feel with some dealers too.. Hmmm… It seems you already covered it all. My best guess is a slipping forward band clutch if you have an auto tranny, or a low performing clutch issue on manual tranny. Or worse you need a new piston rings and valve job. You can also blame a blocked catalytic converter or exhaust system. Try using some famous engine treatment and fuel injector additives for first aid solution or perhaps customized your induction system…

Don't get it fixed at the dealership, but at least have them put it on the STAR....this way you get the codes (since you are not getting anything) they should tell you what is wrong, then you fix it on your own, or at an Indie....

FYI
The MB Star diagnostic scan tool is $28,000.00 per year subscription fee, and does more diagnosis than any other unit, at least on MB.
Average cost is one hour or roughly $150.00 USD.
This is a case of saving money with a correct diagnosis.
Wrong diagnosis can easily cost you $7,000.00 + out of pocket, if the issue is ever fixed.
