If it has the early tensioner it is very hard to tell if it is failed (or going to fail soon). I actually clamped mine in a vise and tried to test it with a large wrench and it seemed OK, yet it failed two weeks later. It is easier to change it now with the extra room available.

worked on getting the carpet changed from tan to black. The dye didn't work, it just turned it a purple-ish blue color. I'm actually using some interior paint designed for carpets and vinyl. It's actually working pretty well.

Right now it's got that "stiff plastic" feeling, but I was told to just brush it with a stiff or even soft wire brush to breakup the fibers and it should soften up.
ON with the build!
Got the timing chain tool in the mail. Installed the timing chain link
Crimper on the chain.
Crimped timing chain link.
Valve cover installed
Installing Coils

Got some more done tonight
Got the intake installed, vacuum hoses connected and Fuel rail and Injectors installed.
Wireing Harness starting to get connected all up
Hoping I may actually get to start it in the next week or so! We'll see how everything goes.

Installed steering rack, getting ready to install exhaust manifolds
Installed exhaust manifolds
Got the accessories installed
Radiator Installed
Got the rear carpet put back in.
And the front carpet
I also got the headliner installed, but I didn't get any good pictures of it. I'll try to get some with better lighting. Also filled it up with fluids, and cranked it over with the fuel relay pulled out to make sure everything was good to go. Now I gotta go buy some gas and put the relay back in for the actual first start test!

As one of the many watchers from the beginning, I wondered why you didn't do the engine compartment when you had the engine out?
Just a question, not a criticism, which I am sure some people will jump all over.

Decided to try ditching the belt driven fan. We'll see if this electric one can keep up.
Installed the electric fan on the radiator.
Mounting straps for the fan
Removed the fan pulley, and bought a shorter belt.
And the final install with very little room to spare!
Video of the Car and Fan running.

I'm not sure what the power is, I think the only stat it had was like 1500cfm. I wasn't aware that any of the w202's came with an electric fan. Maybe I should have just tried to fine one of those! haha. The one I bought is a Flex-A-Lite universal fit fan.

Found a vacuum leak while removing the transmission wiring harness. The hose going to the MAP sensor had a hole in it.
Got the new transmission harness!
Installed and ready to hook up.

Got all the LED lighting installed. Here's a couple videos.
Front turn signals / parking lights. Went with switchbacks.
Also converted all the rear to LED. The lower tail lights don't actually flash as they appear to in the video, just an anomoli.
