Hi there
My 97 C180 has a power problem...when I startup in the morning she idles smoothly, but as she gets warm she starts misfiring, backfiring and jerks or chokes. When I pull away she misfires, backfires and chokes asif the fuel is not coming through at al but once I'm on the go she smooths out and runs cleanly all the way up the rev range. Until I slow down or gear down and then accelerate then she starts with her crap.
What I have done:I replaced all 4 spark plugs and the 2 coil packs (all purchased from the agents). I also cleaned out the MAF and the throttle body but still I have the very same problem.
Please advise on the way forward as it is seriously eating into my petrol account apart from the fact that it is really not comforting to know that your first wife is as ill as mine.lol

First thing you should do now is to check your plug wires for current leakages. You would better be able to do that at night in the dark while putting up your ignition, with your hood open, observe the plugs compartment for visible little sparks. If any, replace the plug wires. Replace all of them
If there was non, then next thing to do is to make sure that you battery is supplying adequate current to the system. To be sure of this , install a hundred amps battery and check yur OVP, your problem is over. Good luck
If all above are all ok, then check your fuel filter as the last resort.

Battery will not cause this issue, check your fuel pressure. Did you replace the suppressors too? Maf needs to be replaced if faulty clearing will not help, what spark plugs? Should be FR8DC4 in a bosch

I have a similar problem.it starts fine but after warming up it seems to run on 3 cylinders but if you flick the key on and off quickly it drives normal for a couple of miles the back to misfire somewhere.... any answers ?

Probably you found the fault, the airmass. Adaption data needs to be cleared with a scan tool. Maybe that's why its not perfect, you could leave that maf in and see if it adapts itself after some days of driving
