spedometer needle lags...
my spedometer needle lags. sometimes from a stop it takes a few seconds i'll be going 25mph (i think) and then all of a sudden the needle will jump from 0 to 30 mph.
sometimes, it's just gets plain stuck. from my house to the freeway is about 1.5 miles. regular stop and go in socal, and my needle stays at zero. i could be going over 55mph and no budge. but after a few miles on the freeway it jumps to 110mph, nah just kidding, just 75. anybody else expirience this !@#$

Sticky needle
Hi AB
My C250 diesel W202 does the same thing. I read in another forum that its caused by grease or some other sticky stuff left on the needle or the stop pin in production. If you have the inst. pod to pieces, clean the needle & stop pin with solvent or the like, or do as I do, thump the dash with your fist to free the needle.
P.S. my rev counter does it too !
Regards Peter

It's a known problem, especially in cold weather.
The needle just gets stuck on the resting peg.
It just needs cleaning. Mine does this once in a while too, I didn't bother yet.
