What to do....major repairs needed...

Just wanted to find out what you guys think...

Dealer wants $1550 for new head gasket, $550 for rear differential, and $500 for a relay for the aux fans and a/c recharge....

Do you guys think the prices are way to high? and if so, how much could I save going somewhere else?

My othe roption I guess is to sell the car for a small amount....

Sucks to be faced with this type of bill...

Oh and I have a 94 C280...82K miles

I think the headgasket is a little high priced...average is about $1000-$1200. Get a second opinion on the cost of the job. The other stuff i'm not really sure about.

Good luck!

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
a little pricey, and independent shop will do a lot better for you. but i say you sell, once things like that start going, its not long before others follow.

Well unfortunately I already gave the dealer the ok to go ahead with the head gasket job. I am going to look fro a good shop to do the rear diff and the aux fan relay. Thanks for the input guys, I needed to delay buying a new car for at least another year due to finances...

Well I got my car back after doing only the head gasket repair. It turns out though that the technician didn't want me to drive with a bad aux fan relay so he put in a new one for me with no charge. That was super nice of him. turns out he even replaced my light bulb that was out in the cluster (the light for the outside temperature). No mention of that on my printout. I think I will bring some donuts by tomorrow to thank him. Also my CEL is out now after being on for a year now...I wonder if it was related to the headgasket or if he fixed something else...

Feels goos to have the car back up and running, last fix isthe rear diff leaking. I will dothat when I save up enough cash. Now my fear is for the wiring harness, I heard ithappens afer a had gasjetrplacement sincethey jostle the wires around during the fix....
