I just got my grandmothers 1994 Mercedes C280 (white with blue mb tex leather) with only 66,000 pampered miles. I'm a college student at Texas State University. This car was only driven during the summer months... she lives in Syracuse New York, and services were done at local mercedes dealership. It is absolutley flawless. i was on my way back up to school from Houston and was racing around with a 745i and was doin around 120 for about 2 minutes and 80 to 85 the rest of the 2 hours. I get it home and that night and go out to get some food and the check engine light is on. I'm scared to know whats wrong with it. Any thoughts... I may go to a local Chevron station that is soposed to be able to tell me whats wrong. I enjoy reading everyones posts

I have a S600 grill, and clear corners on the way. Tint 20% all around in two weeks. 17 or 18 inch rims (Suggestions welcome), and cd player coming up around Christmas.

Marino...intersting name, same as my brother...anywayz, get the 18 on the benz...as far as the engine light goes i have no idea , i have done the same in my 2000 C280 sport with no problems, and are you greek?

Yeah the light didnt come on untill till long after I did 120, and the car felt very strong at 120, the car ran for another 2 hrs at 80. grkpmpn69 are you from Houston? I know a kid name Marino. I think I'm gettin 18's I really like Trbo2nr's Rondell #23. I hope to Have pics up as soon as i get some of this stuff done.

na, im not from houston, im from indiana...yeah consider the 18 thats what i have on my C280 Sport and when i saw the 17 on a car like mine i thought they looked small...but thats only my opinion Trbo2nr's Rondell #23 look sweet but sweeter in a 18, i've got alot of mod ideas too if you want to go that far...if you want to see my car just click HERE it is the silver one with the BBS rims

welcome Marino, nice to hear you like reading everyone's posts; now you have to learn to use the SEARCH feature (or, as I was told when I was a newb, STFF); CEL, or Check Engine Light, is probably the most common topic in the w202 forums (short answer: go to Autozone and get your codes read, it's probably your air mass meter, change your air filter while your at it).

eddieo45 because i have a 1994 Auto Zone can not do it, becasue its an older chip.

try search, but IMO, 66K + CEL w/ no symptoms sounds like AMM/MAS. If the '94 is not OBSII, it will take 40 key cycles (or battery disconnect) to reset the CEL. or you could always bring it to a dealer !

how does the car feel? bogged down? erratic idle? feels normal?

if it's erratic idling, it's most likely the Mass Airflow Sensor. As well as bogged donw, same thing.

If it feels fine, how's the gas consumption? Notice any decrease? Could be a Oxygen Sensor, another common thing on the w202's. Do you know if any oxygen sensors have been changed out? Usually they go for about 60k and they start to degrade, so this is a good possibility.

But you need to get the codes read, either by a shop or dealer. They'll probably charge you an hour's labor.

Thanks guys... The car is drving fine, swift acceleration, good idle, the mpg seems to be the same. I'm just gonna have to take it to a mercedes dealer or to a mercedes expert to check it out in a couple weeks, when i go back home.

just get it diagnosed, Marino, like GDawg says, it'll prolly be an hour labor; the MAS is totally DIY (assuming it's the problem). 15 minutes tops. Some guys even clean their MAS rather than buy a new one; I've heard fuel injector cleaner or jewelry cleaner (search). I bought one on ebay (used, I'm sure) for $50. Hey Gdawg, I just now finished installing the Avantguard grille---have to get some pics and change my sig! Stock no more!

Eddieo45!! big pimpin!! its a nice grille!! i checked my link and it worked for me i dunno whats wrong soon i will have pics of the ultra sport air intake that i just got and i also put in a powerchip gold93 but that you cant see it cuz its welded into my ecu...but good hp gain! EDDIEO keep going man these cars can get sweet if you trick 'em out the right way!! marino, my man you are gonna get charged out the booty if you go to the benz dealer...see if there is a local import car mechanic in your area,if it looks like a **** hole dont get any work done there just let them get the readings on the cars computer the dealers gonna take advantage of you even if it is something simple to fix...sometimes you can even do it yourself...Good luck man, EDDIEO your grille's the **** i wanna see some pics!

yasou, grkpmpn69, cala? I gotta take better pics tomorrow, maybe with the Boston skyline in the bg or something. Next up, clear corners (and, probably more importantly, install the fuel filter I bought and buy and intall an air filter---I gotta get better mileage outta this sled)!

my mechanic, Stephanos, is Greek, so I make sure I can speak enough not to be a malaka! I put some new pics on the 202 pic site, and I'm working on the sig; gotta do the clear corners next!

Eddieo! let him be a malaka-with this car you are a maga...(if you dont know what that is ask him he'll tell ya') clear corners next huh?...ill tell you what--> i got mine off of ebay for $28+$12 s&h...you cant beat that...look for stuff on ebay-some stuff is cheaply made,but if you look around you can find some good stuff for cheap! Oh, and by the way...the pics are looking sexy! keep em' coming!!
