failed.
I think 96 should have an OBDII port (someone please confirm). I'd hook up a scan tool to it and see what's failing (instead of us guessing).

haven't been able to "pursue" my mods, been busy with other stuff.
you're right, 96 c280 is obdII. i looked at the emissions plate on my car, and it does say obdII compliant.
it does sound like a mas/maf symptom. good luck.

That's a $250 - $350 part. Let us know how it turns out.Originally Posted by c280rookie

i would say MAS. As far as reverse goes giving it more gas than it feels like it should need is normal(not the jerk). my c class does this and my old 190e did it as well. I thought you were a Mercedes tech, shouldn't you know this?

I am not a MB tech and do not claim to be. If you search this issue on this board you will see that 90% of the people fixed this issue with the MAS. Also follow this link and it will help you with further issues. This will be the best 100 you can spendOriginally Posted by 040mercedes

Benzman, my bad for not being more clear, but the tech comment was not directed toward you. The thread starter, Euro said he was an MB tech in other threads, so I was directing it to him. Sorry for any confusion.

hi euro,
while the mass airflow sensor is a weak point on our cars, i would always start with the basics, when is the last time the plugs were changed? i would test the plug wires, make sure the air filter and fuel filter are clean, and check for any vacum leaks before i shelled out too many $, is the check engine light on?
hope it works out to be somthing cheap, my guess is plugs and\or wires.
