i-pod hookup?

Does anybody know whether the I-Pod hookup for '05 models advertised on the mbusa webs site exists yet, or what? I just bought an '05 C320 sports sedan, which I'll be picking up in 1 and 1/2 weeks. when i told the salesman that i was dying to have this feature, neither he nor the business manager had any idea what i was talking about... i pointed it out online to them, and this was news to both of them.

I tried to do a search in the forums here for the topic, and found nothing.

just curious if anyone knows anything about the hookup. i know alpine has something, but i'm not in the mood to rip out the head unit, and replace it with an alpine.

thanks in advance guys

Try a search with the keywords "ipod 2005". That picks up about two pages of hits.

I think it cost $299 to have the dealer install the necessary hardware and firmware. Then you're ready to plug it in and go.

yeah its more than just a cable. you have to have it installed and set up from my understanding. but once its ready, you fully integrated with steering wheel controls and displays in the MFD.

My dealer showed me the hookup in the glovebox, if they already have the hookup I wish they would spend the extra $2 to put the rest in. Too bad they don't already install the firmware stock - they just want their extra few bucks.

On another note - I bet this would look really cool with the COMAND system. Anybody have an idea of how the iPod will interface with COMAND?

You can get a cable for $28.50 that installs in the glove box. It will send audio from any device with a 1/8" stereo mini plug into the radio. You hold the CDC button on the stock radio for a few seconds, and AUX INPUT pops onto the display. You don't get thumb controls or MFD display, but the dough you save can pretty much buy an MP3 player.

I just heard back from two different dealerships here on Long Island... they told me that it's coming "this spring", and would be between $600-$700. i highly doubt i'd get this friggin' thing for that price, considering that for $35, i can get an accessory that makes the i-pod go through the radio... but if it's $299 like someone said when responding, i'd definitely do it... we shall see

299 is the list price through the parts department. You get only the parts. They have not been released yet. It (the kit) needs to be included in the MOST fiber optic ring, and the dealer needs to attach a laptop and tell the HU that Ipod is onboard. Some dealers are asking 300 for the install, making it very expensive.

I have noticed some dealers markup parts over list so they can pay for the car wash and loaner lease nut with your money.
