H & R Swaybars

Hey,

Anybody have them? I'm pretty sure that I'm going to pick up a set pretty soon.

I saw that they are 26mm in the front and only 18mm in the back, I thought that was kind of odd. So I was just wondering how people like them.

Also, if you have them how much did you pay? I have found fronts for around $270 and the rear one for around $170

thanks

I have the rear, in combination with AMG front.
Works well for the coupe, which is a little top heavy in the back.
I got it on ebay for about 170 including shipping.
26mm for the front is pretty darn stiff.

ya I saw that

I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna go with the H&R, but I saw someone had the 26mm H&R Rear with with the Eibach 22mm (I think) fronts and that has made me think about it a little.......

Ive got H&R front + eibach rear. I love it. I think this combo is the largest combo of bars you can get for the w203 unless you pay a pretty penny for those sexy brabus bars (DAMN YOU DREX). :P

TruTaing you're who I was thinking about lol

You like your set-up? It isn't too stiff for you?

btw: do you know the size/price of the Brabus bars?

I dunno the price for the brabus sways. last time I looked they were alot more than my set up. IIRC, they had 27 mm front and 23mm rear.

I maybe a bit bias here, but I think they are too stiff at all. I wouldn't mind them being a bit stiffer honestly, but I love turning/cornering MUCH more after I got them. I believe rlee also has them on his c32.

I originally tried just the eibach rear, then later added the front h&r bar. I thought the 22mm rear was pretty dang amazing. Adding the 26mm front bar just made my car so much flatter through turns. I dont think youd go wrong upgrading to either h&r or eibach or a combo of the two or even the amg front + eibach rear.

I love reading about all of this because you all have these items installed and working in your cars right now. I like to hear about these from the real consumers. I too was debating on getting thicker sway bars front and rear. I have a completely stock C320 (like what you USED to have TruTaing), and I must say Tru, your car and mods (like your thread that you started) have given me some great ideas, especially the wheels.

Dude, they're like $75 from the dealer + the bushings.
AND I think the wagon came with thicker bars.

Is that all they are?? I guess it shouldn't surprise me - the front springs were only like 60 bucks....

The standard sedan has 20mm ft/13mm rr sway bars.

The standard wagon has 21mm ft/15mm rr bars.

And the Sport wagon/AMG sedan has 22mm ft/16mm rr bars.

HAHA, Nice, at least your honest! Sorry, but I already have a few things in mind! Not too much (you probably said that too!). I'd like to tint the windows for sure and get another set of wheels for the car as well, but nothing too drastic, I don't want to alter or affect the speedometer or performance of the car.

Just keep in mind that these are a lot smaller than the ones you had originally listed at the top of the thread. You'll keep much of the OEM ride quality, in exchange for a lot less roll control than the H&R/Eibach combo you mentioned.

I wonder like how much of a difference they will make

my dealer is also a p.o.s. so I really wonder if I can even get them for that price if I can get them at all

I suggest you buy the AMG front bar, try it, and then sell it to me at a huge discount if you don't like it.

If I only buy the front bar wouldn't that cause some problems (under/over steer) because it will change the stiffness/distrobution only on the front?

and if I can afford it.......I'm sure you can lol

I don't recommend buying just one bar - upgrade them in a pair. Mix and match sizes according to to how you want your car to handle, but the rule of thumb is when increasing roll bar size at the front, you increase understeer; increase roll bar at the rear, and you'll get more oversteer. Go too big at either end and you'll ruin the balance of the car.

ya thats what I thought

increasing roll bar size at the front, you increase understeer; increase roll bar at the rear, and you'll get more oversteer.
hm....I really don't under or oversteer that much. I only get understeer when I'n going real fast and I have to brake as I turn, and I only oversteer when I do it to drift sometimes (gotta love that rear-wheel drive)

Go too big at either end and you'll ruin the balance of the car.
ya thats a real concern of mine, but TruTaing and a few other guys have FAT sways and dont have a problem. I really just wanna kill that body roll (and coilovers are a bit out of my price range .......for now)
