seems like an old thread...but don't wanna start a new one....

just one question:

Y'alls all say that the Tein's give the lowest drop for the already low stock 05 C230Kompressor Sports Sedan, but how is the drop compared with the H&R Coilovers??? Please, I need this answered ASAP!

This is a old thread I know but did not want to start a new one... I don't have a coupe but just fitted a set of H&R Coilovers and can't slam the front, rear is fine...

19/8.5j ET35 235/35 (front)
19/9.5j ET40 265/30 (rear)

Do you think a 5mm spacer will help or do I need a custom spacer, e.g 8mm cause I dont want the wheel to sit too far out the front fender...

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, anyone with H&R's and similar front offset and width please

thanks

It all depends on how aggressive you want your fitment to be. Also a factor is whether you plan to process your fenders to allow for additional clearance and are you comfortable with stretching the tires a little for clearance through the suspension travel.

It's funny, how the C32 AMG sway bars (22mm f / 16mm r) is what I run on my C-Coupe and their awesome feel. I could only imagine what the H&R sways would do. Especially on the C32 Sedan !

Thanks for the response NG C-Klasse

Not an aggresive driver, going after looks more than anything else... Basically just trying to get enought clearance for the spring perch/adjuster thingie so that i can get rid of that nasty fender gap and hopefully not too much tyre extending from the fender...

from what I read most guys have gone for 5mm spacer but others have used 12mm spacers which seem a bit hectic to me

since I have the 05 C230K SS, it already has a sports suspension, hence its already "lowered." Is there really a point in getting coilovers for the stock 05's? I know that with just springs it'll drop probably a quarter to half an inch which isn't much at all, especially compared with the non-sport c-classes. So are there people with the 05 C230K SS who install coilovers (Tein, H&R) to drop it even more????

From what you've posted and if you're only looking to clear the inner suspension components and not wanting it to be too aggressive I'd just go with a smaller spacer that clears those obstacles. That way you don't have as much of an issue with the outer clearances of the fenders themselves. I don't think it'll be to much hassle at all and spacers are very safe when used properly.

well i tried what previous people said, use a spacer. i had already before but i decided to put them on again just to make sure it wasnt a rubbing issue, and its not. everything clears perfect when i lower it and put the spacers on. that sound and feeling is something else besides rubbing. what kind of problems are there when a car is lowered that i should check for? i dont know but i have a feeling and it sounds like if something is wearing out do to the lowering of the car

i just lowered my car (kwv2, pics soon) and i had my front drivers side makeing some noise. turns out a screw or plastic pin had fallen out from the wheel well and the wheel well plastic was was getting eaten by the tire. turn your wheel all the way to the right, and take a look.

W203 Lowering problems

Just had my '04 C200K lowered on H&R coilovers but unable to slam the front due to front wheel offset problems... (think I require about a 10mm spacer but the wheel is probably gonna stick out past the fender)

Wheels:
19x8.5J ET35 235/35 Yokohama AVS F
19x9.5J ET40 265/30 Yokohama AVS R

Just need to get rid of that nasty front wheel gap...

All comments and assistance will be appreciated

You're gonna need to get your offset up front to about 27-28mm at least to clear the coilovers. Additionally, you might want to throw on a 5mm space on the back. I think most people run 35mm offsets on 9.5" wide wheels in the back and 27-28 mm with on 8.5" wide wheels up front... (hope ya have some thin/rounded side walled tires too if you really wanna dump it.

Noticed the rear offset of 35 on most cars but rears seem fine, no rubbing or anything... unfortunately I have Advan sports rubber at the moment and need to burn them down before I can justify getting 'tuner tyres'

im surprised you can lower your rear that low, with a +40 offset... make sure the coils aren't rubbing your tires. For the front if you want to go lower, just throw on that 10mm hubcentric spacer, if it rubs then do some fender rolling...

my front wheel is 19x8 +32et with a 10mm spacer, so basically down to a +22et and i still have some room before i rub...

like TruTaing said, you'll most likely want to get some rounded sidewall tires like the toyo t1r's or just go down to 225/35

Thanks TruTaing and Rollnnn (Ps Rollnnn, I absolutely love your car's stance)

Think the guys said I am running quite a bit of negative camber at the rear and will most likely kill my tyre life but only way to stop it from rubbing at the rear...

Guess I will have to just get those 10mm H&R hubcentric spacers and live with the rubbing until I can change the front tyres...

SUFFER FOR BEAUTY AS THEY SAY

they look like the AMG wheels on the C63, except that the AMG wheels have the "AMG" logo on the lip.

Thats cause these are AMG replicas. But they are a good looking wheel. I wanted them for my car but mine is the Sport and the replicas wouldn't fit with the larger brakes that my car has.

But I found a Brabus replica wheel that did fit and looks great as well.

10mm hub centric spacer will do. however Roland's front is 19x8 which has an extra 5-7mm clearance on either side. Your 19x8.5 will have more chance to stick out and rub with 10mm spacer because you don't have that extra clearance.

replicas...looks good regardless.

Lowering help

Howdy... I have a 06 c280 4matic, looking to lower her... I want to do a good drop to kill the gap between the fender and wheel. I have 19" wheels on it, front seems to sit higher? Hence wanting a lower drop in the front than back... any help? Which springs, where to buy etc?
