Video - me doing a 0-60

Here's the video of one of my 0-60's on Rt. 7 near Lime Rock.
My best was 6.8 seconds.

nice vid.

i'm sure you'd get better time if there's less wheel spin.

Was ESP turned off? What did you rev to before dropping the clutch and then shifting gears?

Yes it was. If it was on I wouldn't have gotten any wheel spin and it would add 3 seconds to my time. I revved to about 2k if i remember. Maybe 3k but i think it was about 2. that seemed to get the quickest time. also my tires had some dirt and sand on them from the roads and making a u-turn in a sand parkinglot.

Your car sounds very nice, I never thinked it sound like that

My father had a 98' CLK 200k with 192hp version (from factory) but it had the AMG exhaust and headers, sounded a little bit mechanic when he sold it last september with +-100000miles, but when new, it sounded very well, but not like yours, so clean and sporty

What rev did you shift at?

I asked about ESP because I remember reading here that even with it turned "off" via the console button, it was still active. I remember reading you had to go to some dyno mode to really turn it off.

Oh, and did you try any runs with ESP left on?

thanks!
Jim

thanks! the exhaust note from inside the car is perfectly tuned, deep and powerful, especially from a little 4 cylinder. and that video was taken with a sony dscp10 digital camera with pretty lousy video/audio quality.

I don't remember where i shifted at, somewhere between 5500 and 6000.
you are correct, even with ESP off it is still partially on, I think the electronic limited slip and ABS are still active but if anything I thought the limited slip would help boost a take off because of better traction with both wheels. i should have tried putting the car in dyno mode, i know that disables all the intrusive fancy schmancy computer garbage. next time
A run with ESP on would be a joke, i hate even pulling out of a parking lot onto the street with it on, if you give it a little too much gas it makes the car hesitate in the middle of the road as you're trying to pull out! so dangerous if cars are coming!

The electronic limited slip you think of is simply sensors that detect wheel spin and applies the break to that wheel and/or cuts power... It is not an electronically controlled clutch plate in the diff which would be the best because it wont slow you down...

Very nice run, looks a lot like mine . Specially the 2nd chirp when u dropped it into 2nd. Best times usually come from dropping it between 2k and 3k rpms. Anything over that and it'll spin for too long. And ESP will slow the car down, cause as soon as it detects the wheel spin it's gonna cut the power for a couple of sec, n then the engine will kick bak in, that's definitely 2-3 second loss. I definitely gotta get some more vids of my car, maybe next weekend :v

Yep, even when you hit the dash button, ESP is still active except it gives you more "play" room to get a bit more sideways than say if ESP was on. Once it crosses a certain threshold with it off, it will kick in to save the day

To fully turn it off, get into the MFD DYNO mode and that will disable all the electronic aids

yeah that would be cool. just need to figure out a way to mount it. today i made a video of just normal driving around with the camera mounted in the passenger seat headrest. that worked out pretty well. tomorrow i'll try mounting it in the rear center headrest.

cool...could you post that vid of you just driving around?? or is it too big of a file?? Ya, it's hard to find a place to mount the camera for a speedo/tach view, unless you had a passenger in the car hold and film it.

i could, it was 181mb coming off the camera, about 10 minutes barely compressed. i could get the size way down in windows movie maker. it's nothing exciting, just driving around in boring 25-35mph zones to see if the camera would stay put in the headrest.
