05 SS - Free Maintanence!

Well, at least for the first service. My dealer either forgot that free service wasn't included on the '05's or thought my car was an '04.

It's always a pleasant surprise when you plan to go in and pay to get your car and you get it back free! For all the '05 owners going in for Service A, cross your fingers, you may get it free.

Good Luck

Its a short-term program they have for the 05 year. When you go back for the service B, you will have to pay then.

Not true, as I was picking up my car I asked my SA if they performed Service A, becuase I had not been charged and I did not see any note of it on the paperwork.

He flipped through my paperwork, and informed me that Service A was performed (the paperwork shows it was, just a few pages back) and that he had forgotten that '05's had free service/though I had an '04. He wasn't very worried about it though, so he let me go without paying.

Every dealership is different, they do or do not accept the programs benz World-wide is offering. My local dealership does accept that program though.

nicedeboy-
Do you have any further information on this program, never heard anything about it.

Has anyone else heard about this so-called free "short-term" maintanence? Just to clarify, this is Service A, not the 1-3K checkup.

Where do you come up with your miss-information, this is like the third post I’ve seen from you where you make up stuff or better yet, in one post, you where telling others, in BOLD type for some reason, and I quote “Get your facts straight before you RUN your mouth. Do some searching,...” , and even then you, yourself were WAY wrong.

Looking at your other posts, please do us all a favor and take your Ridalin and stay away from the keyboard. It sure doesn't seem like your adding any value to the site.

Turbo2 –

A lot of dealers are confused about the changes MB has made (as well as nicedeboy). All MY2005 and newer, for now, get a free “Service Welcome”, which is the 1-3K check. Everything else is CP (Customer Pay) unless a dealer makes a mistake in your favor. (also, unless you purchased a maintenance plan for extra $$$, then brakes will also be covered)

It’s funny, the perceived value of the free maintenance was so huge, but in reality, it only included a few oil changes/tires rotations and wiper inserts. Never the less, I think MBZ should have kept with it; it made customers feel better in the long run.

Way to go if they didn't charge you.

Thanks for clearing it up, I was pretty sure that MB didn't offer the first "Service A" free of charge, as I stated it was just my dealer being confused, even my SA realized that I should have been charged.

I agree, while the four services that are scheduled under the warranty of the car are not extremely expensive, it's nice to know that your not picking up the tab. I always think of my BMW friend when Im going for service...it's almost enough to make me want to switch to BMW, but then I realize, there's no substitute for a Benz.

Thanks for the clarification!

Interesting note: I heard the BMW was going to kill there free maintenance program also in 2004, but decided to wait an extra year to gain an advantage over MBZ. It will be interesting to see what BMW does with the 2006 models - my guess, no included maintenance.

Also, I heard Lexus was going to start a similar program, but has since decided against it, partly due to an increased cost as well as MBZ not offering it anymore.

Rumors, but it's interesting....

I was told by my sales rep the reason MB killed the free maintenance was because the dealers were taking advantage of it. And were charging extra for things, and doing un-necessary repairs. He also said BMW was in the same boat and after 05 will not be offering it.
