I think it's safe to say that my car can stop on a dime even more-so now thanks to Pshek and TWS!

030 SLK 55 AMG / CLK 63 AMG Performance Brake Upgrade on a w203:

My 19's w/ the color match centers make these brakes look kinda small even though they're not (no Frank and flip, I am not gonna go down to 19's!)

Light goes away earlier nowadays so no crazy photoshoots w/ the w203 modding fanatics again, , but I do have this pic w/ Frank's car.

Upclose and personal:
Front

Rear

I think it's safe to say that I did my research right and left the perfect amount of room for a BBK upgrade, with the offset of my rims. No clearance issues what-so-ever!

Dear Drex your car is amazing. I 'm thinking to upgrade my brakes like you. My alloys are 7.5x17'' front and 8.5x17'' rear (See the image below).

I 'm thinking to buy the same alloy design 7.5x18'' front and 8.5x18'' rear. Do i need any offset in this case?

Thank's in advance.

You need minimum 18 inch rims for this brake setup. Do a search on the forums (SLK55, W203 and C32/C55 forums specifically). There are several threads discussing this. In particular, you'll want to look at Steve's thread (MBenzNL) where he put on these brakes.

not sure about Dex, but i used the new calipers bolts in the front and the old calipers bolts in the back. the new caliper bolts for the back did not fit, so i used the old ones and u have to cut the rear brake shield. the rear caliper i to big to fit in that opening. but its not too hard to make it fit. for the most part they are direct bolt on.

I didnt DIY so have no clue. I bought these from Pshek cuz he didnt put them on his car. It was all set to go for w203 fitment. shield was already shaved.

Drex,

We saw some brakes at the Newport Beach Concours today that reminded me of yours.

MiKeSSw203 and his lovely lady were there too. Small world. His pics are no doubt vastly superior…

CLK DTM Cabriolet FTW!

The same gentleman had a CLK DTM Coupe there last year. Nice guy, to boot.
<-- thus, my avatar.

Not quite sure how he does it, but he receives and takes possession of them personally in Affalterbach. They are bestowed with the all the cool and trick pieces from the AMG parts bin.

He affixed a single-day CA, DOT, and NHTSA permit on the windshield to allow him to drive them on the highway.

Kindly forgive the highjack!

And you guys didn't jack the center caps for me? So disappointed...LOL...j/k

Thanks for sharing, John. Wish I had the spare cash to get the DTM's that go on the CLK DTM. I guess my "cheaper" OZ's will have to do

According to what K1 found out for me from Stoptech, the Stainless steel lines should work w/ the 030 setup. I'll probably find out in a couple weekends.

Damn, that center cap totally fills out the rims. Only thing is, I believe they cost 1G or more a piece, from what I remember. Now that is something I'm definitely not gonna pony up the cash for, just for center caps.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Is the car REALLY this low, or is the back jacked up?
THATS CRAZY low. My front bumper is about to fall off from getting caught on things....

It's the way the parking spot sits. There is a little rain gutter that sits at the ideal point of the parking lot area, so it's very deceiving. He has more clearance than that when he's driving.

2019 GT3 RS, 2017 M3 30 Jahre
So, I'm a believer and am very impressed by Drex's car.

We went on a few "spirited" runs that involved LOTS of twisties.

The difference is, unlike many of the other times we've hung out, I left the M3 at home and brought the C230 just to see how much of a difference Drex's mods have made.

So, it was basically heavily modded '04 C230 vs. slightly modded '05 C230.

So, here's a little recap of the "matchup," if you can even call it that...

The "mods" that I think made a difference during our run:

Drex's car: Tein SS coilovers, Brabus sway bars, K1 Motorsports camber arms, 19x8.5 and 19x10 OZ Superleggera's with almost new 235/265 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, SLK55 AMG 030 brakes, Renntech pulley kit, K&N filter, Kleemann exhaust, Speedinnovation Custom Tuning.

My car: STOCK SUSPENSION!, 19x8 and 19x9 SSR GT3's with almost year old (about 14k miles) 235/265 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, Stoptech stainless steel brake lines, K&N filter.

*Note, both of our cars have about the same mileage give or take a thousand or so miles, have newly replaced rear control arms/bushings, and somewhat recent Services performed.

On the twisties, I could see how much better Drex's car handled. It was more stable, in control and surefooted. There were turns where I couldn't keep up with him. On some turns where he took it pretty easily, I could feel the rear of my car getting completely squirrely. I lit off ESP a few times and could completely feel the oversteer while Drex's car looked like it was just going perfectly. Perhaps it was because I hadn't really been to this location that many times to do spirited runs like this and this was literally Drex's backyard, or I've been used to pushing the M3 hard and knew that it would have taken these turns without a sweat and I forgot I was driving the C230, but I have to say Drex's car handled impressively and outshined my C230. His mods definitely do make a difference.

On the straights, I could see that Drex's car had more low to middle end power and he pulled away from me. At the top end is where we somewhat equalized, but it was too late and he had already pulled away. I'm pretty confident that Drex's car would pull on a C320.

I think Drex's C230 is just a great specimen of awesome C230's out there. I think the CLK430 that we passed up was kinda shocked by us, but oh well... Drex, I say put your badges back on so that when you blow by other cars, they'll be in shock that a "lowly" C230 did that.

Oh and the last mod, the "Drex S-Class tails," the pictures don't do it justice. It looks 10x's better in person. The S-Class lights as they are, are pretty "bleh" and I remember telling Drex that when I first saw them running at night. But after seeing the modded ones, they look so damn good. The red running light color is just a perfect shade of dark red.
