No more free maintenance?

So me and my dad went to a benz dealership to look at a c230 or c240 4 door. This car would be for my business. Everything went well then I asked about the maintenance (10k mile free oil changes) the dealer said that benz stopped doing that this year. is this true?

Yes, it's true. Please look through the last 3-4 pages of this forum and you will find this subject discussed in painful detail.

you can pay for it upfront and roll it into the cost of the vehicle though.

in reality the cost of maintenance was already rolled into the price of 01-04 W203's, we just didnt see it. thats why the price can stay the same for the most part each year, they just keep taking things away!

even shabby jaguar gives it to you for free.

is it just for the C class? What is the cost to add it?

Also BMW is thinking of dropping it on there lineup as well. And the free maint for MB was only around for 4-5 years time. Before that everyone paid just as they do now. MB is not going to lose too much sleep or sales over it as they sold cars for 100 years before they offered free maint. All in all it would not affect my buying another MB, it was a nice perk though!!!

What do you mean shabby Jag, it's MB that's being shabby, poor reliability, no free maintenance. But Mitsubshi also offers if it you want to compare against a lower priced entry. MB decided to do it because of costs, it's simple, it couldn't compete with Audi, Jaguar and BMW on a price level so it had to reduce content to hold it's price against what many consider to be better cars. Heck, I may have gotten the Audi or BMW but they were more expensive and I was lucky to snag one of the last 2004's with free maintenance and car washes. The dealer told me that it costs MB $1,000 to provide this, heck I would be happy to pay $1,000 up front for $2,000 worth of service but when I shop for cars, I have to factor in the extra $2,000 against cars like Jag/BMW/Audi just like I factored the $2,000 in MB's favor when they had the free maintenance against other cars that didn't like Subaru.

So you see where they are coming from now? They are not interested in selling you a premium car based on premium service, they just want to be the low price leader in their segments. They also do it through hidden rebates that allows the car to go out for below invoice in areas where the competition is gaining momentum and keep the prices high where they aren't.
