As for the window decal, i was wondering the same thing, do people typically take this off?

Also, i had the dealer replace the windsheild (the aftermarket windscreen was affecting the auto lights/auto wipers) and when I got the new windsheild the decal was put on at an odd angle. Are the stickers usually 90 degrees or tilted? Never paid any attention before, but for 650 bucks i figured i would leave it on.

ohhh, it's the case that the AMG keychain ring came in. it's actually a nice quality piece of plastic with a velvet holder inside for the keychain. i figure i would put it in the door compartment and just put it on the dash at shows and meets.

I cannot beleive you guys are actually worried about losing the side marker on your car actually thinking its not safe. Do you think all cars in Europe are unsafe becuase they dont have it? Also, some cars in the US have it connected to the headlight and what you really see at night is the headlight from a distance and not some small amber bulb without seeing headlights on.

Agreed...and others should also have their headlights on when it's dark. They should be able to see your whole car.

Yeah, im not real worried about it. Sure I think having a bright orange sidemarker is more safe than to not have one, but I wouldn't say it's unsafe not to have one.

Less safe, unsafe, not safe...whatever. Cars with the amber side markers built into the main headlight housing have them mounted on the sides of the housing, where you can see them from the side.

i dont really understand how the delete mod makes it unsafe. at night, headlights should be on, which are brighter than amber side markers, and during day time, the blinkers wont make the cars stand out any more. its not like the DOT requirement lowers the accident rate in the states.

There you go with that "unsafe" word again. Higher night time visibility makes you "safer".

So you are saying not 1 single collision was ever avoided because, while at night, someone in a car at a 90 degree angle to another car was able to notice that car because of the front side amber lights?

Some headlights DO give illumination to the sides. Some do NOT, especially the newer projector beam style, since they don't use a large reflector like halogens do. Older "sealed beam" headlights, like on the older Porsche 911's gave very little illumination to the sides.

actually the bulb is clear LOL. it's the plastic sidemarker that was amber until i replaced it with the clear marker.

no doubt the side markers cannot help at night. but look at a side view of the car with no side marker, at night when my headlights are on the whole headlight housing is light up. it is actually illiminated just as bright if not more the the side marker would be. the headlight is actually seen from the side of the car and is actually just above where the side marker is. but again, having an extra light cant hurt. i just find it funny people are actually worried there car will not be as safe.

So you leave your lights on all night when parking your car?

The reflectors are there more for when the lights are off and the car is parked in poorly lit areas, e.g. parking garages, street parking, country roads...

I do leave my lights on when i park in NYC, either the left or right side only, or if i'm parked on a main street i'll just leave the parking lights on if i'm only stopping for a few minutes.

i've never had any problem with leaving the lights on when i'm parked on the street, taxi's slow down and make sure they avoid it and the battery seems to be able to handle it just fine.
lastnight i parked on the left side of the street in front of an E320 that had his right side marker lit so i put mine on too! should have taken a picture but he was probably inside the restaurant where the car was parked.

right...your parking lights...not your headlamps (which is what I was facetiously implying). With the parking lights removed there are neither reflectors nor lights to do this....and it's just a ding waiting to happen...
