I have to believe this is an MB-only trick.

By the way, it is so stealth that the MBLN tech I had in my car a while back had never been taught this way to reset. He was using the computer hook-up every time to accomplish the same thing.

I noticed after I reset it, my mpg went up until the computer figured out my average driving habits. Smooth sailing now.

- step on the gas pedal all the way for 5 secs
- turn the key all the way to off (but leave key in)
- take foot off gas pedal

then after 2 mins i should hear a click or if not i should just feel the difference? i have an auto trans '03 c240 4matic.. can i do this on mine?

Turn the key so all the lights go on in the dash, i believe its position 2 (if you read the manual), basically right before you turn it on

Press the gas pedal all the way down, including the quick down. Hold for 5 seconds. Turn key off BEFORE you release the pedal.

Wait a minute or two and drive your brand new car!

Its funny, I tell my non-MB buddies about this they get jealous and try to do it to their cars

Should work for you.

A few things to keep in mind:
- Turn the key to the "on" position, but don't start the car.
- Make sure that you're pressing the gas pedal all the way down to the kick down switch (it's that feeling that you're pressing a button below the pedal)
- Shouldn't really hear a click or anything after it's done, you should just feel the transmission holding the gears longer while it adjusts to your driving style again.

My reading/writing in tagalog is horrible, so excuse my ignorant Fil-Am self (Wala ng problema, pare).

Yup, I'm Fil-Am, but speak and understand Tagalog (almost fluently).

hey let me tell you a secret you probably know already.. online, we all speak perfect tagalog.. no one has to know

the thing is, unlike other nations who migrated here, Filipinos practices the language at home but never to their kids since parents fear that they will start to speak like them..

so anyways.. thanks for the help.. i havent tried to do the throttle thing again but im about to right now.. a little drive around before bed...

- turn key to on but dont start
- press the gas pedal all the way down for 5secs, "quick turn" - is this use for something?
- turn key off, let go of gas.. do i take the key out?

Actually, that's how I learned. My parents would always speak to me in Tagalog. I'd always respond in Tag-lish, but when my cousins on my Dad's side came here, I had no choice but to speak, cuz they were still speaking broken English.

Hey the reset worked, my car is BRAND NEW!!!!!! lol

Youre one of the lucky few with parents teaching you by speaking to you in tagalog. Some dont have the benefit, others dont even care. Yeah your cousins messed it up a bit for you hehe. But hey, at least you still understand and speak a little bit right?

Thanks for the help with the throttle reset. Ill do it monthly hehe.

Nice! Yeah, all the benzo's are drive-by-wire, to my knowledge. That's why we don't have to do what other cars do (disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and reconnect). Granted, if we wanted a more lasting effect on a throttle reset, it would work to disconnect the battery, but this is at least something that can be done consistently without any extra hassle. Only thing I was thinking with your car is that it might possibly different with 4-matics, but it didn't make sense for Benz to have a completely different throttle for 4-matics. Glad it worked.

Yup. Very lucky to have had my parents teach me Tagalog. Considering they've been here for 47 years or so, I'm glad that I'm able to continue to understand and speak. Actually, when I speak and talk, I'm okay as long as the conversation doesn't get too complicated. If I can't figure out how to say something fully in Tagalog, I'll resort to Taglish (which is fine by me). It's the grammar/writing that I never really learned. If you asked me to read a newspaper, I'd understand, but there's NO way I'd be able to write properly in Tagalog (my vocab is very limited).

Sorry for my newbness

But what are the gains from reseting the throttle? I don´t quite get the hang of why to do it?

it resets the computer so that it will adapt to a new driving style. but i do it simply because it makes the car feel smoother, faster and hell of a lot more newer. damn old people selling me their car.

Hmmm this has really peaked my interest and makes me want to try it. Just saying though . . . maybe its all a psychological thing that makes you think your car is better after this reset

Nothing to be confused about, just push down the accelerator as far down as you can.
I also have a question... If so, what does this Quick down do on a manual Trans? thx

it does nothing but make a thunk sound when you're driving aggressively.
