'05 Tach is going to get me a ticket!

Okay...

I know it is probably just me, but more than once I am driving along and for some reason I focus in on the tach instead of the speedometer and then I realize that I am speeding in a town with a zillion cops just waiting to write a speeding ticket. I had a friend in my car the other day and he said that that the tach is usually on the left side. For a numbnut like myself it would be nice if that tach was x1000 and just read as a single digit.

no, it's not just you. i have the same problem. i too wish that the tech is X1000 instead of 100. so now i don't even use the speedometer, i just use the digital display for speed.

Haha. Can you imagine: doing 60mph in 3 seconds, which is really read as 6000rpm. LoL

the rpm meter is in bigger fonts cuz it has only like 70.
it's kinda obvious to me dat when it's 40mph, the needle
cant be at the 1 oclock position...
didnt we get used to seeing 40mph at the 10 oclock position?
so i didnt really have a problem with it...maybe it's just me.

Lol, what are you, a bunch of 17 year old girls? The only other person I have ever heard of this happening to was a girl I was seeing in high school, who mistook the tach on her Beretta as the speedo.

I guess it's an honest mistake, but after a few hundred miles I would think you would get used to it.

i think if they switch the tach and the speedo around, it would be better, im just used to reading the right side of thte dash more than the left side, cuz my left hand covers the left side of the dash sometimes. hahah

ricer's explanation:

The tach is on the right side of the cluster because it is more in line to the "centre" of the car. When you're ""racing"" you can keep the tach in your line of sight while still looking straight down the road so you dont plow into the back of that semi you're trying to pass.
