Dropped off my new Coupe at the dealer today...
I forgot to tell you all about a 'software issue' I had a few weeks ago. One morning, I started my car and immediately got a message on the display to call SOS. According to the woman I spoke to, apparently, my car had an old version of teleaid software that needed updating. I called the dealer immediately to schedule an appointment that day, and took it in on my lunch break. A little over two hours later, the service manager told me they found two loose connectors, and updated the software. They now have another new update(shrug) so they'll install that as well.
Other problems that will be fixed:
*A definite rattle between the passenger door and glove box...at first I thought it was the CD changer or stuff I had stored in there...but it isn't. They'll fix it.
*One morning I noticed a small puddle under that car, near the passenger side front wheel. They'll find it and fix it.
I asked about the computer settings. was told there are 3 modes for fuel settings default, economy and performance...they recommend leaving on default....performance and economy settings lack each other...(ie: perf will get you 18-25 mpg, econ will get you better mileage...but A LOT slower) So, I'lll just have them turn off the AudioPilot feature on the Bose. I also asked if there was a way to change the coolant temp from degrees C to degrees F...he's looking into it.
I got a loaner....a 97 C230 sedan/glacier white/mocha/MBTex/auto/c2...it rides like a truck...but it only has 37k miles.

Makes me wonder if we sedan guys have three settings, too. The C240 folks might want to know for sure. Anybody with an answer?
i'm going to the dealer tomorrow for this adjustment and i'll try to find out more info about the performance setting too.

[B]Took it in for it's first oil change and quirk fix.

The puddle was clear, but the liquid was viscous. Maybe the factory over filled the brake fluid reservoir? They'll figure it out...
Oh....this C230 sedan is a pig....It doesn't have the all too familiar Kompressor, and it rides like a truck. Maybe this is the car the S Klasse consider the C Klasse an insult to their domain(shrug)
my dealer's technician could not find this setting.
Fuel settings - Although the advisor seemed to know about this, the service technician had no clue what I was talking about. He called me at work to ask, and we discussed it for about 5 minutes. His conclusion was that the only real difference is octane requirements and that's how they gain miniscule changes in "performance" or "economy". Something tells me that isn't exactly right, so I'll check at another dealer. (steeeerike two)
They fixed the dashboard rattle - apparently there was a small plastic clip theat wasn't seated in the door panel.
They fixed the fluid leak too - left front caliper bleeder cap was loose, so they bled the brake system and re-filled it.
Bottom of the ninth...2 outs, 2 strikes....hmmm...
Maybe it's time to find another service center.
