Will a C55 mufler work on my 320?
hey guys im posting on the 203 forum bec we all know that you guys are most knowledgable about pretty much anything, and not to mention i am getting a w203 part my 209
i will be getting 1 muffler off of a c55 i wonder first off if it will work?
second will it upgrade the sound of my car?
third will this void any warranties?

weidermann installed a C55 exhaust on his C32. basically the same engine as the 320, just with a Kompressor.
i just re-read the post and i thought he said it was C55, but i guess not.

it is a C55 exhaust that he installed on his C32.
i saw the install through its various stages when it was down here in San Diego getting done.
all OEM too. C55 parts all the way, including the extremely difficult install of the C55 wheel well to accomodate the dual exhaust set up. It was a tough job, but professionally done, and looks as if it came straight from factory !

yeah, i pulled up the old thread about the Carlsson setup so i got confused, because i remember mario saying it was all OEM C55. i have seen it as well and looks really good.

be very careful with any of the AMG exhaust systems. They are made for 6 and 8 cylander cars and could cause more harm than help to you engine. Research it before purchasing....

yup, and it works great. Mine was a C32 AMG exhaust (so V6K to V6) same piping diameter & length.
The C55 AMG exhaust should be OK on the CLK320, because the piping diameter is the same. My only concern would be the amount of back-flow (if any) that it may cause, because it's a dual muffler system. I would think you would need a bit more intake airflow to compensate.
As for sound, yes you will get a nicer tone. But sound is 85% engine, not exhaust, unless you go RICE ! You're not going to get C55 sound from a C320 engine !! LOL ! If it comes with a resonator (not sure on the C55), then have it removed. That will give you a bit more of that deep sound.
One other thing to consider. Because the C55 exhaust is a dual muffler set up, you may need to do what Weidermann did, and that was remove the exisitng wheel well, and replace with a C55 wheel well to accomodate the piping. Expensive $$$$ !!!!!
The options to not doing this, is doing custom piping work around your existing wheel well, and the muffler(s) may not fit properly.
Let us know how it goes...

Sol is only gettin 1/2 of the exhaust system. I am gettin the other. So its only going to be 1 muffer. It should look nice. The AMG tips are a little bit smaller than the CLK55 tips so no cutting will be involved of the bumper! I'll post pics as soon as its done!!!!
