I chose medium because too light will defeat the purpose, and too dark would blind me and ghetto-ize the car.

I pick the metalic dark tint for my C240. I believe the brand is SolarGard with 5 year limited warranty. So far i really satisfied with my tint. I feel the benefit of it. I also attached the pic of my car but mostly stock doh

personally, I think silver car are not very nice with super black dark tint. but metallic is nice for silver car. I go with medium just to shade myself under the sun and a little privacy in the car but I still want chicks to see me driving

Well I can't really vote. I've got 15% on the doors and limo on the rest. I have a black car so I was going for the least amount of light in as possible to overcome some of this FL heat.

Window Tint on a white car...how dark?

Hey guys,
I just got my c240 last week and figured the first thing I should take care of is the windows. Every vehicle I have oned in the past has been a dark color, and I have tinted the window extremely dark. My C240 is white and I am concerned that a really dark tint would not look so great. How dark do you think I should go with a white car? (interior is black in case anyone is wondering)

I just dont think it would look nice, that is why I've never tinted my windows. I'm really contemplating somehow getting the "sport" windows on my car though...

I have 35% tint on my coupe. And I love it. It would still look good even if it was darker than that.

Mine's white, but no tint. If you're out past midnight around here the cops are just looking for an excuse to pull you over, even if they check out legal. Nice look, though.

Well, depends on your need. If you just need shade from sunlight, get a V-kool. My dad's S class got them and even with 80 percent visibility you'll be twice as cool inside. If you want looks, get solar gard or that kind of stuff as they're much cheaper and shines with the silver of your car. I came from a tropical country so tint is a must in every car.

Here in Sunny California we need tint. Typically the car thermometer reads 97+ each day when getting ready to go home from work. I had the doors tinted 20% and the side windows that in the coupe you really can't see out of limo dark. Did not tint the back because of all the radio problems and because I want to see better at night out the back. I practice aggressive defensive driving so I am always scanning out the back.

My advice, DO NOT goto Visions Tint! Those guys melted a piece of my window plastic trimming with their heat gun.

Not to mention the scratches on the side of the car from their carelessness rubbing their chairs onto my paint.

On a white car you can get lighter tint and still have the darker look. (ie, medium tint appears darker than it really is on a white car.)

I had 30% smoke tint on my white Ford Probe, and it looked as if it were 15%-20%. Most states limit you to the 30-35% range, so you can have the dark look and still be on the legal side.

i agree with oggle on this. medium is good enough for a tint. too much and you won't see anything if you are a crazy driver.

I understand this point, however, on my car, my 35% tint doesn't look as dark as I had expected. And that's with charcoal interior as well. When I first got it, I had doubts as to whether or not it was really 35%. But others tell me it is pretty dark. I guess I was just expecting something more.

Yeah, that's what I practice as well. I can get aggressive, but I always try to stay in control of every situation I get in.

Is that all? Is that when you first get in the car? Around here, with the heat coming off the pavement, the thermometer can get above 120 on a hot day.

I'd get the medium, if I had a choice, but in Michigan, WE DON'T. A few years back, they made add-on tinting of driver and passenger door and front windshield illegal, with the exception of the top 4 inches, and only 35% tint on the others. Not only that, a MSP pulled me over on I-94 and informed me that it was no longer a code violation, it was a moving violation. That means points on the license and higher insurance premiums. Fortunately, he gave me only a warning. Needless to say, I took the tint off of my Jetta that night. I don't need it that bad.

That said, there sure are a lot of people doing it anyway.
