Tinted Windows W203 Thread - All You want to know about window tinting a C Class
and yes my car is clean, its washed every week. does anyone have a very light smoke tint on their white benz that they could post a picture of?
i have it on already, my freinds and people love it but i'm like its okay, i rather have the glass but this way i save lots of money.
i'll try to find you a good pic that shows it
I personally like limo tint on a white car.. especially on the W211 with the pano roof..
That WOULD look awesome....w/chrome rims
V-kool is really expensive isnt it? i would go for a medium to dark plain tint no reflection on a silver car.
is V-Kool a good quality tint? how is it compared to Madico?
do you know a place in LA to get it done?
thanks
yeah ima go with black for sure

i was going to get a 35% on my C but after looking at several cars including another C class with 35 all around i thought it was too close to Stock tint. even with black interior. in the day time it just looked way too stock.
so now i am trying to figure out if i should go 20%. but i know if i do that i am going be harassed by these SoCal pigs.
. also i will have to take consider the visibility at night too.... so i dont know what i should do. i will need to think about it. maybe i will just go witha Vkool clear tint just to block out heat but still have full visibilityso in all from what i have seen.... unless you are doing 20% its not worth it imo. and below 20 is just too dark and doenst look that good unless the car is black of course. then it looks badass.
anyways i will hold off on my tint for now
my .02

I had it done at XLNT Tint. They did a pretty good job overall. There's slight bubbling on the bottom rear portion of my front passenger window, but I think that was caused by the window moving up and down a half inch everytime I open/close the door. V-Kool is great stuff. The difference it makes is amazing. I got Huper done on the rears and I actually prefer that b/c it's non-metallic so it doesn't affect reception and doesn't look shiny either.

do you have any pics?
i want non mettalic as well
ive been to vkools site and it just has pics of cars which the windows look stock but it protects agains heat which is there main goal
that would be good. have the stock look and have heat protection
i would do this if i dont do the 20%
That seems to suck...doesnt it? I did check the statute and the shop is right, but is there any way to get around this? Does anyone have 35% all the way around...is it worth my time.
The shop does a great job with MB and the dealership uses them to do their tint.
I am willing to drive to ATL if it means I can get darker tint on the back...but what about getting tickets????
Any input would be appreciated.

anyone??????
I read that I can get a Doctor's prescription for darker tint and have it approved by the Office of Public Safety....anyone done that before????
You should check your local laws to see if it's really unlawful for the shop to install a darker tint, or whether it's just unlawful for you to drive with a darker tint. I'm guessing it's the latter. Therefore, I bet if you called around, you could probably find a shop willing to install the darker tint, as long as you understand that it's not legal for you to drive with it on the street.
Other than registering your car as a limo (some states have exceptions for limos), I don't know any other way around the law.
i am thinking of getting my car window tinted. my car is silver sedan. any suggestion on the colors?? and the degree of darkness? I heard 30% around the car. but i was thinking maybe 25% on the wind shield. but is 30% dark enough? i just want the tint feeling of the car. but i don't want to get stopped by the police because of the tint. what is the maximum tint i can have without having much trouble with the policce? oh...and any special brand name for the tint that i should know about??
thanks
When the tinting is installed, ask them to install moleskin on the inside rubber liners to reduce the possibility of scratching the film.
I'm fairly certain that the lower the %, the darker the tint. The % represents the percent of light that the tint will allow through the glass.
I talked to the tinter I have been using for 16 years now and he recommended an even tint (not too dark) around the entire car. I've got a Silver C32. I haven't had the time to get it done yet but that's probably what I'll do.
Also remember that in California it is illegal to have any aftermarket tint on the front two windows (or the windshield for that matter). I have had tinting on my cars including the front windows for years now and have never been hassled - although I was hassled in one of my dad's MBZ's years ago and actually got a fix-it ticket. (Aside: I asked the cop how he was going to require me to take the tint off my dad's car and he didn't really care... thankfully we knew someone who signed off on it).
If you are pulled over and have tint on the front windows, merely roll them down all the way before the cop gets there. That way he can have visibility and unless he's having a bad day probably won't hassle you about them (or even know they are there).
I had heard that the part that Mercedes uses on the door for the track/seal is made out of plastic instead of felt which can scratch the tint. That part would have to replaced & that means the door panel being removed. I don't want some tinting kid removing my door panels. Check out tintdude.com I saw something regarding a C240. Good Luck!
