That's pretty impressive. Velvet is very soft and the pressure and moisture against the velvet would flatten it quickly but why mess with something that works...

I went to the place off the 91 at Tustin. Did a great job, knew to cover the sensors on my hatch so they wouldn't get ruined and did the whole moleskin thing. They do the tinting for Caliber Mercedes.

Stickercity is right across the city as well if you are interested in a clear bra, stickers, or blacking out any of your car's lights.

This sounds like the best deal! Can you post some pictures of your tint and also who we should talk to? MBworld Groupbuy? Anyone down???

just put down sherman oaks. I don't know the address as Robby is the one who told us about it. I live in santa monica and sherman oaks is about 20 minutes away from me. It's right over the hill in the valley. Should be about 45-1 hour from riverside.

Sun Shield

Sherman Oaks, CA 91403

(literally right off of the Van Nuys exit on the 101)

I will post pics of my car tomorrow (Sunday) if possible as I have yet to take new pics with the tint. The owner of Sun Shield is aware of the affect that metallic tint can have on navigation and AM radio.

Pics '05 C230

Here are the pics I promised of my car that was tinted by Sun Shield in Sherman Oaks. It is difficult to get a good representation of what the tint looks like in person from these pictures. Either way, the tint was installed very nicely. It took about 2.5 hrs though because of the moleskin install. I suggest making an appointment.

Once again, my side doors are 35% and the rear window is 20% done with Llumar film. If you want a light tint look on your car go with my setup. If you want some more privacy, go with 20% all around...just be wary of the cops. I would probably go 20% all around if I had to do it again, but my setup will suffice for now.

BTW, I checked my AM channels today to see if there was any intereference; there was no inteference that I could detect.

I have a 06 c350, got my tint done at California Tint Shop in rosemead CA for $120. life time warranty. metallic tint cost $20 more i think. you can check yahoo yellowpage to find their info. My friend's C320 got it done there too. I did my last Acura there as well. never had any problem. everyone i know got their tint done there. Cheap and good. One shop in Orange county quoted me $320. and gave me the BS saying mercedes is hard to do and they gota disassemble my doors in order to get it done. BS!!!

however, the downside is they are extremely busy. you better go very early otherwise it make take hours to wait. first come first serve. i was told they usually stop taking any more cars after 10PM.

Tinting Opinion...Please Help

I'm new to this forum...well i live in SoCal, and down here our tint jobs go by light, medium, dark, and limo. Anyone got opinions on what would look good on my car???
I got a Black 2005 C230 Kompressor stock.
Please Help...
by the way...I'm leaning on the medium tints on the front windows, and dark on the back windows and rear window.

help me out guyz!

20% (medium) all the way around is classy yet dark enough to get interior protection and a nice exterior look. You might get hassled by the cops though. I am not a huge fan of different shades on the side windows like alot of people do.

Personally, I went with 20% on the rear windshield and 35% (light) on the side windows. Now I wish I would have gone 20% all the way around because I have a light interior and that makes the tint appear lighter. (Obviously a dark interior would have the opposite affect.) At times it almost looks as if I didn't tint my side windows at all. Two advantages to my setup though are that cops are not likely to hassle me, and I have no issues seeing out of the car at night.

By the way, make sure you get moleskin (felt-like material) on your window gaskets so that your tint doesn't get scratched. Alot of people complain about scrathcing on 05 c230s if moleskin is not installed.

Good luck with your decision.

With 35%, there is still a slight blue that shows. At 20%, your windows will not show blue. Moleskin is a must from what I have seen on this forum. I have it installed on my 05 C230, and I do not have any scratching. Moleskin does not have anything to do with the shading of the tint; it just protect the tint from scratching.

to tint or not 2006 mars red c230

I have a 2006 c230 mars red I am partial to the stock blue tint to the windows but some dark close to limo tint would be nice as well with the mole skin to block the fl sun what do you guy think?

i say a nice medium tint. blacked out is nice, but at the same time, everyone has it. i did 35% all the way around. And esp for livin in CA, cops are so hard up about that. Dont make yourself a target.

That'll be so pimped with the limo tint but I say 35% all around look's sweet and still classy.
Goodluck with whatever you decide.
