It seems that the only current way of putting in mole skin is having to take off the door panels?

My tint guy didn't have to do that for mine =/
I've had my tints for about.... 2 months now?

I get lines from dirt outside the window, but once I clean it, it's clear as... 35% front, and 20% rear. Lol.
Great dude.

So I have...
3M Non-Metallized 35% fronts and 20% all rears.

The guy put them all the way up to the top, and it's beautiful.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get a better camera, or a photoshoot sometime in the summer with friends.

I'd have to say I'm pretty satisfied so far.
I had them done in San Bruno, and I'm in the SF area. But it's only a 20 minute drive.

Let me know if you'd like them done, I can recommend the guy that did mine
He makes you sign a waiver for the front tints though. It's only right, as he won't cover it, because it's illegal

You don't have to remove the whole door panel. Just pop it open to remove the weather strip.

Coupe rear little window tinting

So I am still unclear if most people tinted the little rear plastic window on their coupe or not.

If you did, was the tint shop able to do it or was it a DIY? Also has the tint lasted on?

I am planning on tinting my windows and would like to tint the small one.

Thanks for any help

I don't know if the Illinois people heard or if it has been mention, but a new tinting law has been passed allowing front tints. I'm a little confused on the details, but it seems to me they're allowing 35% in front as long as the back windows have tints. I hope there is someone who knows more about it on here, and could elaborate further.

Here's what one website had to say:

" Answer.
Waiting on our legal department for the correct terminology of the bills. So this might be pre-mature, and unfortunately lengthy. Here is my understanding of the bill(s) This gets tricky because when you look up this bill, the original language is not necessarily the language that will become law, because there have been amendments (new language) put forth which deletes the original language. (Does that make sense?) So reading the bills and the admendments that have been passed, these two bills do two separate things.

HB 4327 does not impact HB 3325; however, it expands the legal responsibility to include the professionals who illegally alter or tint windows. Under HB 4327, they can be charged with the same offense as those who drive illegally altered or tinted windows.

HB 3325 as amended deals specifically with the tinting levels on a vehicle. It states that a person may drive a motor vehicle with a nonreflective material tinted film that does not allow less than 50% light transmittance (or less than 35% light transmittance if the windows to the rear of the driver already have certain window treatment applied) upon the side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver. Deletes a front windshield exemption for persons afflicted with or suffering from a medical illness, ailment, or disease. Deletes an exemption to certain window obstruction provisions for motor vehicles manufactured prior to January 1, 1982. Provides that is a petty offense and a Class C misdemeanor for a second offense for an installer to install window treatment on motor vehicles that do not have specified license plates or stickers.
As you see....these bill are different and do not effect one another."

Anyone have an answer to this question? I feel that not tinting this window would bother me when I look in my rear view mirror. If anyone has done it to theirs please let me know

ok so i have been reading a lot on here now. this week i went and got my '01 c240 retinted because of the scratches. everything was redone with 20% llumar tint including the rear window. now my radio has poor reception and my unlock/lock on the key doesnt work from so far away. from what ive read it seems that they may have gotten the amp wet or cut the attenna lines. what are my possible solutions to this? do i have to remove the tint, replace the window, replace the amplifiers? and any way to make the tinter pay for the repairs? also is it possible to just remove the tint on the back window and replace it with ceramic and just leave the other windows the way they are?

FIRST get the Tint Protector C class kit and install it BEFORE you put your windows up and down or you will get the scratches all over again. It doesn't matter what type or how expensive your tint, it WILL scratch. Trust me on this.

Question

Wussup ya'll ...

gotta a question.... if you had a choice between these 3 tint materials what would you choose and why? I have 3 places i'm thinking of going all pretty reputable but i'm torn on which tint material is the best overtime.

1) Suntek CARBON

2) Madico ONYX

3) 3M

Thanks!!!

Hey RLPIII,

Your GT-R needs the Tint Protector kit too. It doesn't have any felt on the inside of the weather strip. Buy their universal kit.

My tint looks the same as this.

I just hate the little plastic piece on the rear passenger windows (the ones that don't roll down).

Is it possible to take off that little plastic piece? so you can have a all black?

Any is there site where i can see the different % of each tint shade? I want to get my window's tinted but not really dark. Also is there any good recommended shops in san diego? Also do u guys tint all the windows? I was thinking about leaving the front windshield window untouched.

hey i want to get my 2001 c240 sedan windows tinted and was interested in the moleskin window protector at www.tintprotector.com, but under its product description it says:

Mercedes C Class Kit:
Sedan & Coupe
1 kit will do all windows.
Kit will fit all 2002-2007 C class Sedans

anyone know if this is true or not?

Thread from the dead.

Simple question, I have a 2007 c280. Do I need this moleskin kit? This is the first I'm hearing about it after calling about a dozen shops looking for quotes. No one has mentioned his.

Thought?

Ok?

Moleskin kit ordered.

While the moleskin kit is on its way is it safety to have the windows tinted and leave them up? Will putting them down that one time to install the kit cause these scratches?

I think that's the best plan. Get your windows tinted first THEN install the Tint Protector felt. That way the tint shop can't mess up the felt with their solvents they spray on the window.

The secret to the felt is the strong adhesive. I used cheep crap moleskin once and it didn't go well.

Do your tint look like this? http://www.tintprotector.com/tintscr...eskinfelt2.htm

Just install the felt kit they offer and it won't happen again. My C32 went for over 3 years with the tint protector felt with no problems and no scratches before I sold it.

I guess it won't correct the scratches that are already made, but prevent more from happening?
