tint

I had my windows tinted at zibart and they did a great job !!!
They guarantee the job for as long as you own your car. The film supposed to be scratch-resistant, but even if you get a scratch, they will fix it at no charge. I have been dealing with them for a long time and I never had any problems

All of that for $199 -- Not bad.

www.ziebart.com ---- highly recommended.

P.S. Get them, they are worth all the tickets that I have been getting.

Sunroof Tint Question

A not so serious question,

Living in Texas, we take a beating from the sun, expecially during the summer heat.

It seems that tinting the windows may cause a problem with scratching the tint, but has anyone tinted the sunroofs, and does the tinting interfere with anything other than the sun's rays, and is the daily result OK (ie no scratching or itching, etc.)?

TIA

Why would you want to tint the sunroof - its already tinted ? If thats not dark enough you can always extend the roller blinds. I guess I don't see why you would want to do this.

Well, one reason is that the blinds will eventually cry "uncle" at some point. I'm planning on just tinting my sunrooves when my car gets out of warranty and the blinds act up. Don't know why you'd do it while the car is under warranty, though.

Got Llumar

Thaks to all for the input.

I decided to go with Llumar, turned out really nice.
Slight mirror reflective film... and my radio still works.

I'll post pictures if anyone is interested.

Question Rear bottom tint....

Hi...
For the people that has tinted their cars....
did you get that plastic piece below the window tinted too?
Was it hard to tint that part?
does it look weird without the tint on the bottom part?

Thanks,

Same here, not possible to tint it.

It's not really noticeable though.

Tinting Windows in SoCal

I'm thinking about tinting my windows (C320 wagon).

I've never done it. How much does it cost? Anyone recommend a good place in LA (preferably westside)?

Also, what tint would go well with Brilliant Silver/Ash combo?

Oh, and I'm leasing my car. Is this a problem?

Newbii

PS. When I shift into manual mode, I get sortof shrill whirling noise above 2000 rpms. This noise doesn't occur in Automatic.

Normal, or should I get it checked out?

you might want to post the second question in another thread thats appropriately titled... but it sounds like you're just not familiar with the engine sound. my c230k sounds like a heavy diesel when i rev it up over 4000 rpm; at first i thought it was broken but when i heard another c230 do the same thing, i realized it was just the sound it makes normally.

in automatic mode for normal driving, my engine almost never goes above 4000 rpm and thus i dont hear that throaty sound as much. when you shift in manual mode, you force the rpms higher (usually) and you would hear the sound.

I know a shop that does very good tinting. Call 213/748-2332 and ask for David. I have watched them install tint many times and they do good stuff. I think they also do work for dealerships.

Tinting really helps the wagon in my opinion (a lot of glass to cover). I paid $200 for all 7 windows - keep in mind tint on front windows is illegal in CA but doesn't look right w/out them tinted. I've turned in many lease cars with tint and never had any issues. Many types of tint out there. I think mine is 3M Panther Black. I don't like the "metallised" tints as they reflect much more light.

Thanks BrabusCClass - wanted wheels that were kinda original but still appropriate...they look chrome in the pic but they're actually the BBS polished finish.

Now I've got to install some H&R's, but I'll have to pry my wife's hands off the steering wheel first...

window tinting

i'd really like to get my windows tinted 25-30% with just a simple dark tint... but i have NO idea where to go around here (northern VA, dc area). i want it done right, but i also don't want to be ripped off.

also, those of you who have tinted your C230 (white ones especially!) with a dark tint, no silver or reflective nonsense , please post pics! i want to see what it'll look like.

A nice gradient from Back window to front (20% - 35% - 50%) looks tight! Especially if you want to "appear' to be abiding by the no front window tint law (assuming the law applies in your state). Just tell the cop it's factory tinted. I used to always get away with that in Cali.

How were your windows tinted though? With 50% in front the tint is pretty light, kind of like the stock tint in my C. If it was tinted dark or no tints at all, then it looks aftermarket since it stands out. Maybe I was just lucky, but seriously doubt it based on stereotype
