My car (when it eventually arrives) will be a brilliant silver C230K. Which I chose since I have always been a big fan of Mercedes racing (a silberner Pfeil has to be silver, right?).

Perhaps those who order the hard to miss blue type are not only more flashy in their car choice of color, but also more flashy on posts, creating that impression. Might be that the silver owners choose a more sedate color which also reflects their demeanor a bit.
Actually, I read that silver just passed white this past year as the most popular new car color. I'd believe it; they're everywhere, especially in German marques.
IMO, Orion blue looks like more like a Chevy Camaro or Cavalier color...but to each his own...
:p

And, I think that silver is a color on most Chevys, no? But, you're right - so far, I can compare Orion pretty closely to a Cavalier, Geo Storm, RSX, and Civic Si. Though none of them change in different lighting situations the way my baby does.
I just remembered reading something interesting recently. Since Mercedes has re-entered serious racing the sales of silver cars has gone way up. Indicating to the head honchos that the racing has been a successful endeavor for MB.

Color popularity is cyclical, I think its just silver's turn right now.
I've got C2, C7 with six speed and Bose. It's a great driver! And.....there aren't too many around that color!
I can add to the debate about silver. I own a silver '96 Chevy Corsica, at least until i get my C230 (late Feb). My employer owns a silver 2000 911 Carrerra 4. Both have red interiors. The difference in 0-60 times is about 8 sec. The difference in price is about $90K. Silver is the popular color right now.
