does the 3 pointed star on the hood make it a better car?

yes!!! haha i went in to test drive a 05' c230 kompressor this weekend to compare it to my acura tsx and as far as performance goes the c230 delivers power much earlier and sorta bottoms out in the top rev range where as my tsx from 3.5 - redline pulls constantly (typical japanese motor) however, as far as speed goes the cars are equally matched, neither quick nor powerful . i must say although the obvious value is acura, i loved everything about the c230 more . this is where my title comes into focus, it FEELS soo different when i drove the c230...not in terms of performance or handling (since i couldn't take it to the limits) but it led to the conclusion that yes, just having the 3 pointed star on the hood makes for a completely different driving experience regardless of the car itself haha just my 2 cents...time to pick up my c230 and sell the tsx .

anyone else's experiences or feelings on driving a mercedes over other brands is appreciated since not everyone cares about status symbols (yeah right) :p

These kinds of posts make no sense to me. If you're looking for power for the money, then don't buy the C230. That's not what it's made for.

By the way, my apple doesn't taste like my orange either....

don't know if the 3-pointed star on the hood makes it a better car but when it comes to service/repair time, the 3-pointed star on the hood makes it a whole lot more expensive than most other cars that don't have it

it's all about newbieness too....

much more so in places like Delaware, and those with unrepairable brain damage due to some other dumas speeding in their super fast, super HOT C230 and crashing into another super fast, super HOT C240.

At least it's not a MAZDA.

I used to owned Japanese car ( Supra turbo,300ZX tiwn turbo,Supra twin turbo,Lexus GS400, WRX turbo, EVO VIII) The first Merecedes I have is the 1997 E420 sports. I compare both Lexus GS400 and 1997 E420, I prefer the E420 over the GS400,due the E420 feel more solid ! which you can't feel in a GS400 !

The Mercedes is a batter car ?? Yes and No. The Japanese car may be more reliable and performance(bang for buck). But at the same time you feel batter when you drive a Benz !

I bought my car simply bc its a very nice car. Not to mention for the money you will spend for a brand new car a Mercedes is a good choice to go. C230 the best way to drive a benz for less.

For me, yes there is a good feeling driving a mercedes. And yes this car definately does turn heads, simply because of its good looks. You'd have to be retarded to think that this car isnt stylish. I love my car, and even though I havent driven one, the only other car I might consider is a g35 four door. BTW why cant a c230 owner enjoy performance in this car...it may not be as fast as a c55 or m3 but its no slouch. The thing that I cant get past is that every other car in this class has far greater numbers on the road. Which is fine with me, and gives our car some exclusivity.

Oh ya and I am 18 so dont believe a word that comes out of my mouth because its all bs anyways.

I'd probably add the S, ML, CLS and even the CL to this list.

The only real "head-turner" is the SL and to a lesser extent the SLK (and maybe the G).

People simply like sporty roadsters.

I agree, the car does look good. But if the 4 year old body style on the C230 is seriously turning peoples heads, then they must have some serious neck issues. :p Wouldn't BMWs, Audis, Jaguars, Acuras, Lexus, and any other nice "stylish" car also turn their heads?
