BRAKE Pad, Rotors, & Calipers Discussion Thread (OEM, aftermarket, etc...)
where can you get the amg brake conversioni for $650. I'm very interested.
Scroll down and check out the center section.
I think this is what they're talking about. But it's $749 now for stage 1. They were offering a special over on the Coupe Forum for a while, and I think they were closer to the $650.
What percent of my brake pad is left when my warning light comes on?
Thanks
Beth

Hi all!
What percent of my brake pad is left when my warning light comes on?
Thanks
Beth
I drive fast almost always btw. And I have about 23777 Km on it right now. 9100 Km left on service B.
Leave them alone. There are wear sensors in the brake pads. If you think your car is the only one in which the sensors have mysteriously failed to work, then go ahead and replace the pads. If you want to have something (more) legitimate to worry about, replace them with aftermarket Pagids or Porterfields, which don't come with sensors.

how bad is it when the pad warees out?
do i have to worry about damaging anything?
After your brake lineing visit work shop message comeson how long do you have before the pads deplete... i ordered Pagids but they wont be here for another 4 more days and i need to use my car? how long will my existing pads last how many miles or hours or etc i have been using them for a few days too/

So we have about 3 - 5K miles left after the warning ???
Depends on when your light came on...right? So, in my case, my light came on at 18,000 miles, so I have 2000 miles. If your light came on at 27,000 you'll have 3000 miles.

Yup - but I was hoping for a 30 - 50K life out of the pads. If mine had 10% left at 18K I would be bummed

oh yeah, and while i'm on the subject, what brand of pads are best in terms of price, performance, and minimal brake dust?
First time brakes on my C320...
Dealer wants to do new rotors and pads.....
I'm sure that the brake wear wasn't metal to metal.
Any comments or help ??
Thanks in advance
If you take your wheel off and measure the thickness with a micrometer or calipers you can see for yourself. A place that sells pads should be able to lookup the minimum thickness and most of the time it's stamped on the back of the rotor. One way to call their bluff is to ask for the old parts back and if the rotors still have a lot of life in them have them take back the new ones and put the old ones back or credit you the difference.
Truelove, if you want pads that last and produce the lowest amount of dust it's going to cost ya. The Porterfields are the only ones on the forum that people are consistantly happy with. Check my website for a link to a place that sells them at a discount www.Buellwinkle.com
check these site and inquire..
