1) STFF

2) See If your calipers say Mercedes-Benz on them.

3) See If you have cross-drilled rotors

Actually, if you have the sport coupe, those didn't come with the "big brake kit" as some of the C230 Sport Sedans did.

Best Low or NO dust brake pads????

I've had my '06 C230 now for about three months and 4,000 miles and the brake dust is driving me nuts!!!! I had Mintex pads on my BMW and never had to clean the wheels. Anyone have any success stories or reccomendations???

Yup, I just installed the porterfield rs4 pads on my 04.5 sedan (4 piston type front calipers) and I love them. Very low dust. Now i can go more than a week without washing the car.

I heard Axxis pads are horrible, i checked a few reviews on this site a few months back, said the stopping power is crappppppy!

Porterfield pads are the way to go, but I still havnt tried a set yet, I still have a 4 brand new OEM pads and 4 brand new OEM rotars in the garage! maybe I can sell them!? hmmmm....

You can buy directly from the manufacturer.

I finally ordered some Porterfields after getting fed up with cleaning my wheels on every trip. I clean the inside of the wheel and after one trip, the dust is covered.

I hope this fixes the problem and would reduce my washing and detailing.

I changed out my C brakes to Porterfields at about 40k miles. They were so fade free, grippy and clean that I replaced the 2nd set of OEM's on my E with Porterfields at 60k. My truck is due in about another 6-8k....and you can guess where I'm going for brake pads.

You won't be disappointed!

Porterfield pads are great. I installed them in the front and the brake dusts are lower than the rear ones.

I got a reply from formymercedes. the pads come with a silencer kit, but no brake sensors. Now to find a good, fair priced mechanic....

Sensors can be purchased from the dealer....
Replacement is very easy, even for those of us who may not so mechanically inclined. Go to the sticky about OEM and Aftermarket Mods at the top of the main forum page. It's described there.....

You guys and your Porterfields... I replaced my fronts with Pagids 17,000 miles ago. At 1/3 the price of the Porterfields, the Pagids throw little dust, no more than the stock rears.

I wash the car/wheels every three weeks now. At least I don't feel I have to wash it sooner simply because of the wheels.

The problem I've heard from several people about EBC Greenstuff is they warp the factory rotors. It's quite possible that if you got the right rotors they would work perfectly. I've gotten my Portefields in Costa Mesa at their front counter and when they were out they made them on the spot while I had lunch. When I did Porterfields on my 2002 C-coupe that was the only option other than MB pads but I'm sure there are way more options. The least expensive place to get Porterfield pads is from a place that doesn't sell euro car stuff. Go to a place that sells these pads on ricer sites and you'll see steep discounts. I paid $100 when list price was $149.

The caveat is that my 2002 had totally different brakes than my 2004 and my 2004 does not dust anywhere near as bad as the 2002 and I feel the MB pads on my 2004 dust about the same as Porterfields. Look for ceramic pads, they dust about the same but because it's much lighter in color you won't notice it as much.

can you tell me more about pagid and where you got them (+ price)? my pads have 15% life left of them. I got to replace them soon.

I'm getting my pads from Jerry and should be here next week. I can't wait to put them on and get rid of this dusting problem. I don't have to buy the brake sensors and just use the existing ones right??

I'm doing the install myself. I've done them before on my ricer cars and don't feel like paying $500+ at the dealer.
