Well, since they took away Obsidian Black, that pretty much seals the deal for me. No 2006 C230 Sports Sedan as I had planned. To be completely honest, it would have been a cheap fill-in anyway until I could afford the 2006 BMW 330i. The C230 Mercedes is an underpowered, and very cheap (as far as price and maybe quality) car. It's still a Mercedes, however, and I could have impressed some people by saying I own a Mercedes. The decision is made for me though. Congratulations MB another stupid decision to go along with the underpowered engine.

Believe it or not, most people do not buy the c230 for a race car. Mercedes offers the c230 to make the c class more affordable and gas conscientious.

Why come on here and tell us why you aren't getting a Mercedes? We new you weren’t when you came on here and every post is about how another car is faster than the c230.

Sorry that Mercedes could not build a good car like your '2000 Zinc Yellow Mercury Cougar Special Edition' that you drove. I love front wheel drive !

If you're dreaming of a 2006 BMW 330i, then I agree that the C230SS is not for you, essentially because they are not comparable cars. The C350 on the other hand, might be comparable. But if it's absolutely imperative that you wash a black car 5 days a week to have it look like anything, then perhaps I can interest you in a 1980's vintage Radio Shack PC. It needs attention everyday as well.

1st, MB still has 2 blak colors (040 black, 768 metallic black)
2nd, there is no reason to say how c230 cheap compered to 330
if you cant afford ( your own words) 330 .

if you like the look of the 330i that much, you should consider getting the 325i. It looks exactly like the 330i and is only $1,620 more than the "very cheap" C230.

It's okay.... Mercedes really didn't need another shallow, status *****, whining, complaining, never going to be satisfied customer anyway. They have plenty of those. The logic of your car buying rationale really says enough. I'm sure BMW will be glad to sell you a much more powerful self-esteem booster so you can impress some people by saying you own a BMW. I bet that the BMW lot is jam-packed with customers that are all pissed off because they threw some irrational tantrum because Mercedes stop selling Obsidian Black. Thanks Mercedes for indirectly keep one less trifling customer off the ownership list!

The only problem I saw with all bmws is that the backseats are ridiculously small. Did they remedy that problem with this new 3-series? And I don't really like the interior as much as the mercedes =)

Good luck with your car though. Its what *you* drive every day, not what everyone on the board drives. So, do whatever makes you happy, and I wouldn't come to a mb board looking to justify your decision.

Mercedes usually puts it's larger engines in the rank and file cars for the NAFTRA market. Other parts of the globe seem to relish smaller power plants. A friend in Korea takes me to lunch in his S240, something you won't see in the Americas.

The BMW does look nice, but so do jelly beans.

In my OPINION the new BMW 3 series and 5 series both look very feminine and flimsy compared to the older body styles, which look somewhat masculine(ESPECIALLY THE 5 SERIES) and ALOT sturdier. However, I do feel the 6 series and the 7 series look very sturdy, maybe you should get one of those instead. Why get a cheap 3 or 5, go for the 6 or 7, since you can afford it, right?

Who are you trying to fool? That car looks like **** compared to the last 3 series. Each successive BMW iteration looks more and more like Pontiac.....meets Kia! With the Lincoln LS thrown in for good measure.

Someone who wants a sporty car buys a BMW. If you want a comfortable car, you get a Lexus. If you want a balance between the two, and just those two, you get a Mercedes.
