I wouldn't bother with testors... it's great if for a tail-light or two on something less reputable than a MB, but that's about it.

I personaly will probably either get the euro impact strips (no marker), or have a "professional" body shop paint them factory paint (invisible during day, some light out-put at night)

cheers

Okay, here is the thread I remember reading awhile back where FrankW used clear black tinted model paint to smoke his taillights and front/side marker!

I went ahead and ordered a can of Testor's "window tint" enamel spray paint and the glossy clear to go over it for $11/shipped directly from Testor's. The guy at the local HobbyTown said it had been discontinued

eBay, eBay, eBay!...Don't know which company is "best" per say, but you can find the least expensive of the side markers there.

As for the "smoked" look, you'll have to paint them yourself or have someone do it. I don't think they sell the side markers smoked.

If you are looking for "painted" side markers, go to evosport.com

Hope that helps.

ps...next time, search can help. Look what came up based on the word "sidemarkers" searching specifically in the C32,C55 (w203) and w203 forums:

I got my sidemarkers from F1, but they sell the "Euro" style and the "Clear" style (which isn't necessarily "clear"). Depending on whether you have halogen or BIX, I would go for "Clear" if you have a pre 2004.5 without BIX. If you have a MY04.5 and up, go with "Euro".

But it all depends on taste. Lots of people go different routes (i.e. Euro impact strips, painted coreners, etc...)

Believe me, the "search" really does work.

alright i found a place and they offer the euro clear ones or the regular clear sidemarkers. Now its an 04 so Im afraid if I get the euro clears it wont match with the rest of the car or if it will still look fine....feedback is needed! I want to order these already but need your opinions. Euro clears or the reg. clears
the regular ones...

and the euro clears...

Wait a second, ctC230K, so are you saying that my car looks ricey?...LOL...

I got the euro-style lenses cuz they matched the bi-xenon, fog lamps and '05 mirror blinkers better with a clear (see through) lens.

The "clear" markers looked too frosted to me...just my take. Either way, all of the companies on eBay that sell these try to stay competitive with each other. The ones I got from F1sports (again, not affiliated with F1 Motorsports in North Hollywood) fit fine and I didn't have any problems with them, but I don't know if anybody else, aside from ctC230K, has had any issues with other companies.

I seem to recall one thread that was started a while back talking about how they were having problems with the markers staying in and having to tweak them a little to make them stay put?...Can't seem to find the thread though.

Don't worry, TheBossman. At least you realize that there is a "search" button!...LOL.

Believe me, I understand how it feels to be excited about having this car and coming on the boards trying to find info. It always seems overwhelming at first...Just so you know, wasn't trying to flame you, but more/less trying to prevent you from getting flamed given the topic of the thread you started (yeah, it's been discussed multiple times).

Good luck with your purchase!

Yeah, in LA. Used to go down to Newport ALL the time (ex-girlfriend). Got pulled over MANY times in my fixed up MX-6 (before I got this)...LOL. OC cops, especially Irvine and Newport, are harsh on fixed up cars...oh well, guess they're trying to keep the neighborhoods safe.

As for meets and stuff like that, I know that the events board has stuff listed all the time in SO-CAL. I just seem to always miss them for one reason or another. Last time I was definitely gonna meet up with some other heads from here in the w203 forum, it rained!...LOL.

screw the clear ones. they look cheap IMO and many people comment on how they dont fit right. spend the extra money and get the euro impact strips.

lol, well the euro clears are more like japanese clears, they remind me of altezza's too much. atleast you have something different on your car.
also mine did not come with any bulbs so if i got the euro clears they would look awful with clear bulbs, way too bright. the standard clears are a little too frosted but they look great on the car i think. i don't know how much the euro impact strips are but i'd rather have a light and reflector there then nothing at all.
now that i think about it, how come they have euro impact strips and they have euro clears but the euro clears aren't going to mount on the euro impact strips...

i have no issues with mine fitting. they're great, they don't leak or condense and they stay on tight.

the clears on my bmw... now that's another story...

"Euro" clears is just a name, because they look like the ricey "euro" look that people do on their Hondas. (However, they do look better than the clear frosted ones, if you have Bi-X and new fogs).

Euro Impact Strips are what are found on MB's in Europe, because they don't need DOT side markers. That's what I have on my MB. You should get the Euro Impact Strips, much cleaner look, IMO.
