C230K Coupe
2002 C230K Coupe Transmission and others...

Sorry if i sound noob guys. Never really read up on mercedes before.

Im thinking about doing a trani swap but i want to figure out what the name of the trani is and how much would the trani itself cost.

where can i get the front bumper off of a C230K SS to fit my C230K SC.

Do they make black housing lights for the 2002 C230K?

what site is a good site for all this stuff...?

Brembo brake discs?

Thanks, matt

i don't think the bumper of the C230 sport will fit the coupe, you will have to search out for a amg bumper (i think that the 2005 coupe bumper is an AMG).

Black housing lights? For the front i presume? I know there is an aftermarket bi-xenon replica housing for the sedans with the black chrome inside... BUT again the nose of the coupe and sedan are not interchangable. YOU could always do it the way the subaru guys do it... Bake in the oven, disassemble, paint and reassemble..

What kind of swap are you thinking of?? Replacing an auto w/manual, or just replacing for the same type, or ?

i don't know about on the 230 compared to the 320... but the speed differences between the auto and manual are so minute, it may be a waste of $$$ and time. your probably better off screwing around with the auto-stick.

ex. a c320 coupe...
auto 6.9 seconds
manual 6.8 seconds.

the chances of screwing up on a shift and loosing that .1 seconds pretty high.

yeah but the thing is, i heard if i start to modd the engine i would burn out the auto trani. Someone told me that if i have too much torque(im thinking about turboing it)then that would cause the problem.

Read this, specifically Buellwinkle's post:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ht=manual+swap

I think you're going to have to dump a whole lot of $$$ before you get torque numbers that are going to cause a problem with the transmission.

Why not sell the the auto and buy an manual. Even if you lost 4-5 grand in the deal you still would probley be ahead of the game. You have to rem all the things that go along with the swap. the tranny is the easy part. Heres a few more things i can think of and correct me if im wrong or feel free to add to the list.
Tranny, flywheel, clutch, crossmember, driveshaft, shifter assy, starter, clutch pedal assy, a few interior pieces, wireing harness and computer (you might be able to reprogram it not sure).
Im sure its been done a few times before but uless you got a bunch of mods to your car already where it not replaceable then i dont under stand why spend the moeny to do it. It will also never be the same as a factory stick no matter how clean of a job you do.

The difference between a manual and an auto is not .1 sec, it's more like .5+. There's no way you can launch a car as well with an auto cause there's not clutch to drop. Break torquing is alright, still not *** effective. The control you gain with the stick is also superior. Get the 05+ with the rod shifter instead of the old cable shifter...

That's on the V6. And I will bet you dollars to donuts that a 6speed C320 will smoke an autoshift C320 by more than 1 tenth of a second. Think of how hard the manual can launch compared to the auto alone.

On the C230 the difference is greater since there is less Hp to work with, especially if you have the small 1.8L engine. At 7.1 seconds to 60, the manual 2.3l C230 is almost as fast as the auto C320. My guess is the slush box is 7.8 or so with the 2.3, and over 8 with the 1.8.

To me, the biggest difference between the manual and auto is the connection to the road. I don't race people to 60, well, I don't race people at all. It's just the feeling of being connected directly to the powertrain/pavement that makes the manual worthwhile.

And I believe (on the new C's) the 7G's have considerably faster passing acceleration then 6spds. (0-60 is close). I'm not sure on the M111, or M271.

anti-slush box here....

That's because how they test them. The auto is allowed to select whatever gear it wants, the manual has to stay in top gear. Bull****, eh?
