Are bulbs brighter than 6000k any good?

I've seen photos of 7000, 8000 (or higher!) bulbs and absolutely love the look! Question: are they any good? I heard the 12,000's are crap, but what about 7,000 - 10,000? How long do they last? How bright are they?

You're forgetting that he is corporate and therefore has others do those things, that he consideres beneath his status, for him. :v

"Are they any good?" = NO

"How long do they last?" = Aftermarket hid bulbs have been reported to die prematurely.....or change color over a short time, while OE bulbs are rated to last 2000 hours.

"How bright are they?" = less than 2400 lumens; the higher you go in the Kelvin scale, the more color you get but the more lumens you lose.

Consider these numbers:

Philips 4100K D2S = 3200 lumens (OE)
Philips 4100K D2R = 2800 lumens (OE)
Philips 5000K D2S = 3100 lumens
Philips 6000K D2S Ultinon = 2400 lumens

9005 Philips halogen bulb = 1900 lumens

Aftermarket hid bulbs have no standard of measuring their lumens....thus, no one really knows what their true output is. But according to the Kelvin scale and Philips' numbers, the consensus do agree that anything higher than 6000K will surely have less than 2400 lumens.

BUTTOM LINE: If you want those nice ricer colors, go ahead and buy them. If you want to see better at night, stick to OE bulbs.

I like 8000K Bulbs The Best. I like the blue effect.
