Opel Manta 400 stripes on C coupe?

This may be over the top, but I like the look. How about it on my Alabaster white C coupe? Google the Opel for more images. There is an article on these cars in the Oct '05 issue of "Retro Cars." It's a British mag I found at Barnes & Nobles.

thumbs up or down? 38 views and no replys.....I'd just like opinions. A friend suggested having magnetic stripes made and throwing them on the doors when the mood striked.

I think this could become what my laywer calls a "vigorous dialogue" when refering to my communications with my x. ...but I digress... O.K. that's one thumbs down from the man in the SRT Crossfire (nice ride).

Did you just get your windshield replaced or is there another reason for the ducktape all around it?

manta stripes?!?!?!?!?!?

My god - I thought that era was finally passed tense...IF you go that way - make sure you don't stick your arm out of the window as much as manta drivers used to do - it will wear the stripes off just below the window...

greetingz,

Graphics, stripes or vivid paint jobs on MB's are just tacky. Leave the tacky **** to the ricers, and the absurd stuff to the Mini owners.

Funny you mention the Mini, which is only one of the two small cars I can think of (Lotus Elise being the other) that can pull off stripes and still look halfway decent...

The marketing goes a long way to make it acceptable. Theyve pushed it since day one, and have come up with a vast array of paint, graphics and stripes that make the comical appearance of the MINI seem more complete, the more goofiness its sporting.

And that's great. I do like the MINI, and can't wait to see what BMW has in store for the expanded range that's coming.

I saw a new black Crossfire on a dealer's lot with a black windshield surround.
As I recall, it was a price leader and the deletion of the stainless trim was part of the package. Might be better to swap parts.

Is the SRT engine hand built also? Does it have a signature plate?

As far as stripes? The only thing I think would look even remotely descent is if you put Rookie strips on. But only on a silver car and the stripes are slightly darker, maybe like gun metal or titanium color. Ghost Rookie Stripes.

Hobie,

Yes, they came out with a new "base" trim which is a bare-boned model w/o heated seats, TPS, etc. Unfortunately just like some of the problems that the C230/320 crowd ran into with swapping engine parts with the C32; this also happens with Crossfire since it's not only the supercharger that is different between the N/A 3.2 and the SRT/AMG-spec'd engine.

Captain,

Besides the plastic engine cover (which I removed) every single part is the same. (Funny that the cover actually covers up many of the part number stickers with the M.B. star logo and "AMG" imprints on the supercharger). That pic also shows the SL55 intake I changed over to. Since the pulleys, headers, etc. are exactly the same as in the C32 these aftermarket parts they will also work in the SRT-6 without modification.

Maybe for the smaller sized cars(Civic's, Neon's, etc.)...but for example, the new Cobra coming out (red and white combo) and present year Vipers (blue and white combo) look sharp without giving the car a high school adolescent feel..IMO
