automatic tranny shifts like a grandma

is there anyway to fix the slow shifting 02 230K? I wonder if the dealer can change the time it takes to shift. Sure it shifts faster than my old VW, but it doesnt shift anywhere close to my 850turbo

Read your manual...It adjusts the shifting pattern somewhat according to the drivers style...so if you drive like a grandma, it will shift like a....

Yep! Very true. The ECU will map the way you drive accordingly and control the shifting points by driving style. On my old Subaru WRX I definitely noticed the difference between my father driving it and myself. I even reset the ECU a couple occasions just to remap it to my driving style. So I'd say if you want it to shift faster, MASH IT. .02cents

From: Edmonds... good bye SD
i read somewhere on this forum that it remaps every 12-20 shifts... so if you beat your car, to get the car to shift harder at faster revs.. then baby it... you are back to where you started...

But if your in "S" mode, slam the pedal a few times like when freeway racing or passing... your car will go into some high performance setting, where it wants to keep the revs above 4k... So that may be an option depending what your tring to do.

Trade that slushbox in for one with a 6-spd, makes driving fun. You'll never get rid of the delay off the line, the sluggish shifting, that's just the way it works. The ECU will control the shift points and that's about it. What you maybe able to do is see a performance transmission shop where they can change the springs in the solenoids and find a ways to increase line pressure for quicker crisper shifts or check with a tuner like Brabus.

Being that's it's an '06 let the dealer mess with it just to make sure it needs nothing more then just a reset.

MB of Tampa was where I had all my service done...there one of the better one's at there...

hmm..it's my girlfriend's car, I will drive my 911 if I need to go fast. I just am stuck with her car for this week.... Anyway I would think the shift reset only changes the RPM shift point, not how fast it shifts? Can anyone back me up on this or do they actually change how fast it shifts too? The car basically loses 400RPM in between every shift. My volvo just drops it to the next gear, i swear that thing shifts faster than i shift my standard car

Didn't you post a while back about multiple problems you were having with your '02 coupe ?

Either it's really yours and your embarrassed about owning it or you sold your problematic coupe to your g/f....For your sake I hope it's the first since very few things in life are worse then a scorned women.. :v

I bought it for her, used it when I was ordering my 911. Car is under my name, but who cares? None of them are big issues, but just need to see how to make it shift faster
