i just finally after a long wait got my c230k, i was happy with the car until on yesterday the car stalled on the freeway and COMPLETELY shut off when i pulled int o my apartment complex. i got the battery/alternator warning with 1 malfunction, that went away, but i am sure that it is something else based on the post that i have seen on this forum.
i love my new 2002 kompressor but it is important that it should drive without the shut offs or stalls. i got my car on tues. 16 of july and i have 450 miles on the car! good thing it shows up now instead of later. has anyone had this problem as of late....i know it has been a subject from the earlier ones off the line( mine was just made like a MONTH AGO)
I'M taking it in to the shop tommorrow to get one of those goofy loaners that everyone talks about or i could get a skateboard and roll behind MB-Bob like on Back to the Future
!

Kinda scary when an 18 wheeler is about 20 feet from your back bumper at 75mph and your car does the equivalent of the Windows blue screen of death.
Tell them to replace the fuel pump assembly. That appeared to cure our random stalls, but we kept the car only a few weeks after the repair, so who knows?
Hope you didn't get it at park place in Bedford, if you did, make sure you get Graydon Wall as a service adviser. He is a straight shooter, and went the extra mile for me on several occasions.
Good luck.

No, I did not pursue the lemon law route. Apparently, Daimler Chrysler requires that you sue them, unlike other manufacturers. I tried to switch to a C320 wagon, but the deal was not good for me - in essence park place wanted me to eat $5000 on the deal - 2k down, and 3k which we were upside down. I then consulted my attorney, who informed me of Daimler Chrysler's suit requirement. Such suits typically last 6 months. I weighed everything up, decided to forget my down payment, and did a deal with Volvo, who ate up the upside down portion of 4k, as they offered only 22.5k, not 23.5 like MB.
It was my wife's car, and I did not feel happy with here driving it, especially since she was 1 month pregnant. It took several visits to the dealership to NOT sort out a bunch of issues with the car. My lemon law case seemed strong, but I am self employed, and did not relish the stress and time wasted for a suit. On top of that, the service manager at park place (he has since been reassigned) was a complete jerk. In the end, all I lost besides a LOT of time was 2k.
I would have the fuel pump replaced ASAP. It may fix the problem, after which you may be happy with the car.
BTW, ours cut out a total of 3 times at varying speeds.

CHARLIEBROWN, you are welcome to hop on your skateboard and ride my bumper anytime!
Take it back to Ewing (plano pkwy) and tell your salesmonkey and servicemonkey you're not the least bit happy with a dead car so soon. I'd tell them you nearly got run over by an 18-wheeler just for emphasis.
It's easy to get a bitter taste in your mouth, but try to keep it positive and see what happens.

I also have the stalling problem too. I took the European delivery and is started to occur around 500-1000 miles. Since I got the car in US it happened at last 5 times. After I turn off and than on the engine everything works fine again. Also it seems to happen more often when I have less than ¼ of the tank full. I called the service department and will drop the car on Wednesday. Will post the results.

hello, i bought the c230 coupe when it first came out, my car is black. first problem i had was the squirel marks and the paint is dull. i took the car to the dealer and they said it the owner of an black car. i have had a lot of black cars in my days and i never had this problem. they enored me like i was someone bothering them. io have taking my car in for an 2nd inpection. because i had a acceleration problem. and they had to order a valve for it. not to mention that i had to replace every headlight and backlight on my aleast 3 times. this car have been nothing but problems. now since i'm close to my warranty they not tring to replace this car. they have been discrimination on me because i didn't spend 60,000 on a car. its not worth they time to really help. also my tent is constantly being stratch my the blade inside the windows. the GM treat me like i'm a disease. it's very frustrating. i'm trying to sue mercedes for defect car and discrimination because what the car cost. my car is now worth $17,000 and its 2002! please e-mail back if there are any other problems. maybe we can stick together.

Out Of Control!!
I'm going to assume that English is your second language, so I'll cut you some slack there.
MBs are designed without added tint. It is not their fault that you tinted your car, nor are they responsible for keeping your non-factory tint in good shape; it is actually your fault that you did not research this, and replace the molding around the windows. This necessary replacement has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum.
New paints ain't what they used to be; deal with it. Complaining about "dull paint" would annoy me as well.
Sounds like you have some valid electronical problems, but the other "problems" are probably putting the dealership off, and though they should treat everyone the same, your insistence on discussing things that aren't their fault has probably blackballed you at the service dept.

i met up with the dealers service guy today( this morning) and he took the car in, i explained the issue and he was responsive to my words. i guess we will see when i get the car back. i am currently driving a burgundy mitsubishi from the enterprise in the dealership. i guess they were out of the S600 loaners.

I think this is a psychlogical tactic being employed by MB to make you really appreciate your MB when you get it back, and hopefully overlook any bad workmanship on their part.[i] i am currently driving a burgundy mitsubishi from the enterprise in the dealership. i guess they were out of the S600 loaners.

I had a similar stalling problem - total shut down without warning at highway speed. Happened twice. Dealer diagnosed a short in the transmission control module and replaced it under warranty. Problem has not recurred, but I haven't had much mileage since the fix and it was intermittent anyway. We'll see.

Is the stalling problem occurs only in Auto transmission or manny too?
my car is a manny-fresh so it can happen on all the cars!
i really don't care what the problem is as long as it is fixed, they could come back and say thatit is the flux capasitor for all i care! i want the car to be somewhat reliable instead of "not" reliable at all.
